So Im totally out of Ideas at this point, ive tried every setting I can find. After exceeding 244mhz FSB my system will no longer post. Ive tried lowering the HTT to 200mhz, ive dropped my ram speed to 533mhz, then to 400mhz to see if this would eliminate the issue. I've tried increasing voltage on the CPU. Im out of ideas. At 2.19ghz this thing is rock solid, I primed for a couple hours earlier, ran 3dmark all was well. From here I up the FSB 2mhz and the system no longer posts which seems strange. My CPU is a huge bottleneck on my video card right now(3000+). Going from 1.8 to 2.19ghz gained me almost 1000 points in 3dmark 05. Id love to push it further because its still running cool on stock voltage and seems perfectly stable. So I suppose Im looking for advice. Spread Spectrum is disabeled, my voltages look great, and my temperatures are beautiful. (Core Temp is reporting 26C currently at idle, it peaked at 34C). Anyone have any ideas as to what I can try? I really want to figure out what the limitation is here because I'm picking up a different mobo this week if I cant break the 244mhz FSB Barrier im currently at.

Thanks in advance!

Mike

are all 3 spread spectrum's disabled? give us some bios screen shots of your settings...

Digital cam is still at work, i left it last week and havent brought it home. All Spread Spectrum options are disabled. I forced the HTT link to 200mhz from the default 1000mhz. 16^ 16V are as is still, theres a setting to change them to 8^ 8V. Ram settings I forced the speed from 667mhz to 400mhz, Im at 533mhz currently with the FSB at 242. Ive got the cpu voltage at default currently. PCI-E Frequency is locked at 100mhz. Just ran clock gen to see what the PCI slots are at and they too are at 33.4mhz. Latency are 4-4-4-12-1T, 2t didnt do anything either however. Im completely out of ideas, if you need any other setting info let me know i really appreciate the help because for the life of me I cant determine what the limitation im hitting is.

set the mem to 2T when overclocking, as the 1T will limit your OC. this is weird because i had my rig in sig running at 313x9 for a while until today when i got some better ram, and right now as i type this i am testing at 250x9, ram is at 450 (DDR2-900) and its been running sp2004 for 10 hours now with no errors. did you update the BIOS to the latest? there has been one update released that i know of since the board came out.

Yep im using the most current bios (1.1 from the forum.msi.com site then downloads), from what im seeing my ram is actually around 620mhz currently with it set to '533mhz' in the bios. Ill try backing it off to 2t. Is it worthwhile setting any of the cas / ras latency's differently? Im really lost as to whats causing this.

Similar problem here:

Foxconn nF 590 SLi mobo & AM2 3000+, after setting up HTT over 252 MHz system goes in to the oblivion!

Voltage doesn't help, lowering memory doesn't help (BTW it's a Kingston HyperX DDR2-900)...

this mobo is really bad look at our review:

i dont really monkey with timings of the ram, so that might be an issue. try leaving them at default or auto.

i'm having relatively good luck with it. it's really just a matter of stroking the settings just the right way, it's really finicky. it does seem like all boards are pretty different though :(

Mike, did you try the 400mhz ht link option? which slots ae you using for ram? when it doesn't boot, what is the D-bracket telling you?
