DFI LanParty UT nF4 SLI-DR Expert PCI-E (Socket 939) Motherboard £106.34
Sapphire ATI Radeon X1900XT 512MB DDR3 Dual DVI/AVIVO (PCI-E) - Retail £219.95
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 SATAII NCQ 3Gb/s 320GB 16MB Cache OEM £62.00
Icy Box Aluminium USB2.0 3.5" Enclosure +LED - Silver £17.95

Dumping the 2 WD 80Gb drives into the server (RAID 0) and whacking my 120Gb Maxtor in the Icy Box.

Using current Venice, XP90C, 520W Modsteam, Audigy 2 ZS, Lian Li case, TFT and I'll finally beable to clock up my BH-6.

Sound exceptable?

I believe upgrading your parts to just go AM2 (or Conroe even) would be a better inverstement no?

Nevertheless, those new parts will surely make your current system feel like new again
Aren't you going to have too much storage space though? 320GB+120GB+2x80GB sounds a bit overkill

Well to go AM2 or Conroe (will be the latter) it will involve new memory and CPU also which I just can't afford, so I'm counting on the fact that the above will last me a year or so until Conroe/K8L are both out and maturish.

Storage space, well the 320Gb will be partitioned as the main drives and the 120Gb Maxtor will be in the external USB2 Icy Box as a backup drive/installation files drive. The 2 WD 80 Gb drives I'm going to RAIN in the server (separate PC)

you can always hold off and save up so you can get the top stuff when 65nm AMD's come out.

Aye, seems like a reasonnable plan you've got set up. I'm pretty sure your system will last you more than 2 years.
How about the video card? Wouldn't it be better to go for an Nvidia solution, so maybe you could go for SLi someday? :)

By the way, sorry for mentionning the thing about your hard drives although you had cleared it in your first post, I read too fast tee-hee

Well there has been a lot of problems with 7900 cards currently, and I just fancy the X1900XT ;)

I could, but I get my work bonus at the end of the month :)

You can always sell your current stuff and go Conroe. DDR2 can be found cheaper than DDR1

Somehow I knew you were going to say that

Heheh well your little upgrade is good, though personally, I would hold off buying a new motherboard and save up for a more serious upgrading the future, but that's just me. ;)
