I went to build a new rig a bit ago, but I'm waiting on an RMA for the MB which came DOA. Anyway, the processor is an Athlon 64 3800+ Orleans with the stepping LBBVF 0614XPPBW and was wondering if there were any known problems/advantages to this stepping. I know some may want me to use the search button, but searching for the LBBVF stepping turns up almost nothing and searching for steppings in general are to broad a category.

Just being curious, I'm kinda bored waiting for them to fix my board so I can use it :(

You're not going to find much help. The CPU's are too new and very few have jumped to the AM2 platform. You'll have to be the guinea pig for your chip and let us all know your results.
This is about the best info you will find on AM2 steppings (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=104997)

yup, there isn't much for info at all as no one has results. i have that exact same week chip, just a wafer off it looks from yours. mine is a 0614XPAW and i haven't even tested it yet, haven't had time but i am not expecting much as the early (0614) AM2s i have seen were poor clockers.

maybe tonight you will inspire me to take a few hours and put it in the foxconn to see what it will do. the 3200+ in there now has decided to lock on the 10X multi regardless of what i set in the BIOS.

yeah i saw that thread and it seems most people have the LBBVF stepping, ahh well it seems like not many people have gotten AM2 but it's not surprising in the least with the Conroe. anyway thanks for taking the time

From what I have seen that are all rather lousy except the FX-62.

Try LBBVF 0619SPBW... it served me good up to 3GHz on water. I've seen 3.1GHz before but was not stable.. So this has to probably be the best stepping for Orleans.
Here's the link to my overclocking results: LINK (http://www.pcmoddingmy.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=2547)
