Ok, someone of you probably know I'm building my first WC rig now, it will be all copper/brass and fully enclosed so no direct sunlight. (Swiftec Storm G4, Swiftech MCW60, ThermoChill PA120.3, Laing DDC and Tygon)

I know this has probably been asked a thousand times before and I know will get raped for asking this. :slapass:

But searching I find one mixture after the other with different ratios and with even more additives etc, and many seems to be for special purposes but doesn't explicitly state being such.

What seems to be recurring for something similar to mine is Deonized Distilled Water and Zerex 95:5% to 90:10%. (No UV-mixtures please, I don't care about flashy colors :P)

Off course being new to this I'd rather go with "safer" mixtures, but low maintenance is preferred (also no algea :D), and money is not an issue as I'd rather go with some expensive and better than something cheaper.

Initially I decided to get Fluid XP+ but being slapped for it a number of times and reading many posts about it clogging up the Storm, I decided to stay away from it. :slap:

/me drops the soap

I'm thinking about using some of this Black Tygon (http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=USPlastic&category%5Fname=7510&product%5Fid=8701). Since it's black, it wont let any sunlight into the loop, so I don't think anything should grow, provided you clean your parts really well.

Yeah I noticed that too, but I'm slightly more that "what you can't see CAN hurt you", especially since I've never done this before, and my case is _very_ restrictive when it comes to air/light. ;)

I might go for that tubing later, but atm it feels rather risky/difficult for me with that.

I would recommend using 98% distilled/deionized water, 1.8% (non-longlife) antifreeze, 1 capfull of Water Wetter and 4-5 drops of non-alcohol Iodine. JMO

Are we talking Redline Water Wetter?

"Redline Water Wetter was in favour for a while, but then reports of it leaving long white strands of scum in water cooling systems surfaced, and it generally went out of use. This stuff is not recommended any more - avoid it if you can." [ http://wiki.extremeoverclocking.com/wiki/Water_Cooling ]

If that is it then it doesn't sound that great

And what is the purpose of anti-freeze? Because of side-effects (killing algae perhaps)?

Well Radical_53 uses it and I think he knows what he is doing! ;) But now I think that I will give Hy-Per Lube Coolant a try because of a recommendation of another forum member with a lot of water cooling experience.

Antifreeze is used for anti-corrosion in your loop.
