Ave,

I'm getting a 320 GB 16MB Cache SATAII 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive for my new rig i'm building. Cost for both Western Digital & Seagate is the same. Which one should i go for? I haven't had much experience with either. I've always used Maxtor drives... but folks have been suggesting going for either of these two over Maxtor... plus Maxtor is more expensive.
So which one would you suggest... Western Digital .Or. Seagate?

Thanks.

I bought two "Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB SATA2 16MB 7200RPM" and I am very happy with them. Cheap too! Here the Western Digital one is more expensive...

I'd buy a Seagate.

These 7200.10 Seagates have new perpendicular recording technology.
They have incredible performance and thats why Im going for 3x Barracuda 320 GB 16MB Cache SATAII 3.0Gb/s in RAID0. ;)

Seagate has a 5 year warranty WD is 3 years, correct me if im wrong on that particular WD drive.

If they perform the same i would go with seagate.

Go for WD .. support the 'little' guy :) .. but i do have to say, if you can get a seagate with perpendicular recording technology, then i would take that instead.

That sounds like a very promising setup. I must look into these Barracuda's some more.

Seagate. The platter density is higher, and the extra cache will be a good partner for it.

The best performance for a reasonable price ;)

Ave,

The 320GB 3.0Gb/s SATA2 Seagate i'm getting has the perpendicular recording technology. Had no idea this was such a unanimous decision.

Thanks!
