Hi...first of all i know the games are evoluting fast and new fast processors are coming but if i build this system now....only i will need to upgrade is VGA right? At least when DDR-2 "die"...

X2 3800+ AM2 + Asus M2N32-SLi-DLX nForce 590 SLi

or

Opt 165 939 + DFI NF4 SLI Expert

im building a chiller ...so i pretend to keep the cpu 3.2ghz+ 24/7 :D if it possible...

with that, just a VGA upgrade ( dx10..etc ) is good?

AM2 or 939 for now? Conroe will not arrive so early here...so..i cant wait

thanks!

sorry bad english

well if you're terribly concerned about the future, AM2 is the way to go

Survive, or thrive? It will certainly not thrive... but it should have no problem existing as a fine platform.

DX10, I predict, will have more to do with internal bandwidth, and PCI-Ex bandwidth than DDR->CPU bandwidth.

The future of AMD as it stands now is AM2, but who knows what's down the road a bit? If you're sticking with AMD, keep what you have for now, revisit the upgrading bug in Q4 2006.

if what you have ATM, is what in your sig:

AMD Opteron 144 ( 9x325, 1.5v )
DFI NF3 Ultra-D
2x512mb G.Skill fx tccd ddr600 ( 2.5-3-3-6 1T)
then IMHO, just swap your RAM for 2GB, & get your rig a nice VGA card(s) :D
me too, i'm in the same situation like you, i'm gonna upgrade to 2GB of RAM & get some 7900GTX SLI'd ;) (until next spring/summer)
