Hi all! I've been lurking for quite some time and I'm finally making the jump to watercooling. I already have a spankin' new MM U2-UFO case, some Tygon 7/16" tubing, and a PA120.3 rad. Despite my name, I am probably going to be putting together a Conroe system with a high end GPU. Let me run my other planned parts by you guys and see what you think.

Swifty Storm rev2 CPU block.
MP-01 GPU block. (Anyone know how well the blocks that cover GPU core and RAM perform though?)
Chipset block--- suggestions anyone? Do I even need one for a i975 mobo?
Yate Loon fans all over the place.
MCP-655 pump. Would I benefit much from running 2 in series?
Swifty micro res, but I'm open to suggestions.

Any insight or suggestions you may have will be greatly appereciated! :)

Its been recomended to me to go for an MP-05 SP LE over a Storm. The theory is that on a cpu with an IHS its better at cooling the larger area.

Though if you want a storm because they are cool i doubt it makes much difference and they are obviously great blocks.

I wouldnt bother with a chipset block, chipsets dont really need it and itll heat up and add restriction to your loop.

An MCP-655 is good, i have one (which im trying to sell) also consider the 18w DDC.

I'll keep the MP-05 in mind then. Anyone have comparisons between the blocks when using on an IHS?

As for the pump, would I need a seperate power supply to run the DDC at 18W?

no it will run fine of your psu!

Yeah, its still 12v DC so will run off a molex connector. I only refer to it as 18W because it comes with so many names and that is the best way of distinguishing it.

Ah I see. I confused Watts with Volts..... :slapass:

No, 18 watts is one thing... (that is the power usage)

18v requires the PSU to have 18v (and thats the power voltage)

also, get the radiical or a alphacool plexi top :)

I've noticed that users of the alphacool top have been modding them further to open up the ports. Would the same be necessary with the radiical top?

Id say no, leave the radiical as it is, its very well designed from the start.

Ok then, to summarize so far 18W DDC w/radiical top > MCP-655 and MP-05 could be > Storm for use w/ IHS.

Since I'm using a beefy triple rad and 2 blocks, would I see a great benefit in running two DDC's in series?

What about this Tyee GPU block from DD (http://www.dangerdenstore.com/product.php?productid=217&cat=18&page=1). Any thoughts?

I dont know a lot about full cover blocks, i tend to avoid them for the same reasons as chipset blocks.

However, also look into Ek blocks. (http://ekwaterblocks.com/shop/index.php?cPath=21_31_42)
