I've got a very n00b question in regards to the DC Vault. I was looking through and I noticed that all the #1 teams have 10,000 points in the category. I take it that depending on your rank in the project you get xxxxx points for that ranking? I noticed that with QMC we are getting a ton of points by simply jumping from rank 3800 to around 3600. Is this how DC Vault works or is there something else that I am missing?
We are about to eat 2cpu.com, 1400 points to close the gap. :woot:

Yeah, I think points depend on project ranking, and the lower the rank you climb from, the more the points.
But, at a certain point, the point/rank is harder to maintain.

edit-
scoring system -
The scoring calculation to determine the team positions within the vault ranking system works as follows:

Overall score = Sum of all category scores
Category scores = Sum of all projects scores in a category
Project score = 10000 - ((Position - 1) * (10000 / Total number of teams in the project))

Thanks for the enlightenment. Perhaps we should have teams of 5-10 users branch out and start attacking some of the other projects that we aren't represented in. Should be easy points? Maybe when Conroe releases and everyone has spare computers lying around =D

Sometime last night we jumped up two spots in the Physical Science dept and passed 2cpu.com, we are now rank 21. Time to break into the top 20

We are working on this currently. Once we have the teams in place we can attack......:fact:

According to DC Vault we are KILLING the competition. Rank 19 out of the world guys! Under 5,500 points to take rank 18, keep it up!

It'll be nice once Leiden Classic starts accepting new users. All the teams ahead of us have 5k points or more in it. I read in their forums that they're getting new servers, then they will be allowing new users. Here's the thread about it, http://boinc.gorlaeus.net/forum_thread.php?id=107

I dumped over 600 points into UD-grid, this should rise the team's stats with more than a thousend points @ DC-vault, since we'll pass a great number of teams! :woot:

Rock on guys! I am loving all these little projects and seeing our power get distributed around. I really can't wait till I can bring another machine online and start crunching away.

The nice thing is that the other teams have been able to keep their commitments and that we are showing that even a smallcomputer peson is a valuable member to XtremeSystems.

What a radical thought: In XtremeSystems every one, small or big, counts!!!!!

That is what makes our community great and our teams feared and respected.

That couldn't have been said any better =) I run a single winnie and I am within the top 20 in Maj12, just goes to show what one is capable of when you play to your strengths. Now all I need to do is finish tweaking the Maj12 client so I can break into top 10...

Alot of these projects can be run with others aside, so thats another benefit. Were tearing up a lot of projects right now.. If you ever find the time like i sometimes do, run over to the other teams forums for the project your participating in.. its funny to read the things they say about us... My favorite is this one from Team TNT NET...

Only 10M to go to catch Team Iowa...

Unfortunately, XtremeSystems are going to blow by us a couple days after we pass Team Iowa so it's pretty much a wash at DCV.

At least we'll stay in the top 10 at M12.
