Sound card on PCIe

Has anyone heard anything about this? I seem to recall reading something months ago from a Creative engineer about the difficulties that they were having getting a working PCIe 1x sound card out. I'm considering getting a X-FI Elite Pro (i like my sound :toast:) But don't want to if they are about to be superceded by a new range (and besides PCIe 1x cards will be more usable in a couple years :P)

I have no pci slots at all (not that theyre all filled, i just dont have any) quirky mobo so im eagerly awaiting a solution
