survey here (http://www.fia-amd-survey2006.com/Survey.aspx)

In 2005 the FIA, the governing body of world motor sport, backed by global technology leader AMD, launched the largest opinion survey ever undertaken in motor sport.

The response to the first FIA/AMD Formula One Survey was overwhelming and all of those who took the time to complete it have helped shape the future of our sport.

In 2006 we want to build on this success and to give even more Formula One fans the chance to be heard.

As a bonus you will be entered into a draw to win an Acer Ferrari laptop powered by AMD, or one of 50 signed F1 driver caps (terms and conditions apply).

:D

The need to rid of traction control, foot operated clutching on both upshifts and downshifts, hand remove from steering wheel to shift and a shift pattern. :)

Schumacher would absolutely dominate the kids that rely on technology...

little bit of technology doesnt hurt, but yeah crutches and all..

Technology is good, but it takes away skill...

I completed the survey, truthfully, in under 15 minutes. What's this hour crap? :D

F1 pwns.

They should just make the cars faster and faster and faster... Bring back turbos, skirting, active wings and suspension, slick tyres, and all that mad stuff. They can't call it the pinnacle of the sport when the cars are basically crippled. This may sound harsh but F1 is not dangerous enough... In the 70's and 80's the drivers had more balls.

Crippled?

Try living in a country, where their top-o-the line motorsport, still uses carbs atop the engine, no fuel injection, no electronics save the ignition, completely enclosed in a 2-3" steel tube frame, and yet NEED carbon fiber neck restraints cause they aren't used to turning right.

NASCAR, incase you didn't know. ;) :D oh wait, no. :(

hehe, I think NASCAR would benefit a lot more from interesting tracks with corners rather than technological advances. I really feel sorry for you guys having to watch that oval racing... Complete and utter torture.

I think F1 should allow turbos and active wings, and fans to suck the car to the floor. Like Herms said, F1 is the top of the line racing.
If you want to be fair and test real skill, then thats what A1 racing is for.

BTW, all racing drivers do not use the clutch when upshifting. If they do, then they're a muppet.

get rid of the wings why dont you now that would make it more interesting ;)
But really just limit them to 3.5 litres and everything else goes, Turbo's , Active suspension, skirts (for the car not the pit babes ;) ). just ake it the fastest nutter wins

you guys are missing the point. can you guys take 750hp out of NON SUPERCHARGED 2.4l v8 rotating at 20k/min. i didnt think so...........
but those engineers can and that is the reason why you cant give them free hands.

Alot of mechanical engineering students build engine that produce over 1000BHP from 1 litre carbed engines, just that they last for 10 mins before exploding :p:

I find WRC much more interesting. Even the technology are spectacular, insane acceleration on loose gravel.

yes but F1 engine has to stand 2 I REPEAT 2 FULL race weekends (2* 3xfree trials, tripple session(2x15min+20min if we are talking about top5 teams)) qualifyin and 2 hour race.) if the engine for some reason has to be changed before it has gone through 2 full race weekends you get moved to the last row(place 22 of 22) in the race start(if it goes bad before race ofc) wich is quite a penalty because overtaking in f1 is difficult.

i think that i can get my father to take me to few stages at Neste Oli Rally Finland. too bad that they had to put ouninpohja in 2 pieces because average speeds(was in 170km/h for solberg in 04 on roads like this http://www.leftfootbraking.com/kankfin00.htm) were way too high for FIA
http://www.ilkansivu.net/Neste_Rally_Finland_2003/109_0938_EK_14_Ouninpohja_2_Markko_Martin_ja_Micha el_Park_Ford_Focus_RS_WRC_03.jpg
Märtin taking a flight at stage ouninpohja 2003

i like WRC too but the sport is dying. you cant develope car before it has been used for like 2 years and not the same rules apply to all teams( only 2 ''real factory teams'' ford and subaru has to use 2006 regulations compilliant car, means that you cant have hydraulically controlled locks(only mechanical ones are allowed) and so on). because on this loeb with last year citroen is domination the season.

NASCAR is utter crap. Calling it a motorsport is just SAD. F1, Le Mans are true motorsports.

This forum needs an F1 thread.

Guys, 2008. Slicks, less aero, better racing. Get ready!

Mad Max and Bernie need to stay the **** away from engine development rules. Keep the V10s. If any of you has gone to an f1 race, the V8s sound crap compared to the old V10s. Wipe out that 2 race engine rule. Look at mclaren sitting in the pits all the time during practice sessions lol.

They need to ban TC, then montoya wouldn't be as relaxed during a race(and this is coming from someone who loves to watch montoya drive esp 2001, 2002, 2003 season.)

Whoevr said to bring clutch and gear sticks in: F1 cars don't have a flywheel.

If the engine gives up before the race starts, you don't move to the back row. You get a 10 place penalty. How many times did that screw up Kimi and Montoya's chances in 2005, especially in monza stuck behind villeneuve.

What did you guys put for the survey? I put attend 1 race (melbourne in 02, 03 and 06), watch all 18 races (watched all in 2005 and 06 so far, even Hungry)

Favourite driver: THis is a hard one. I would've said Hakkinen if it was there, Stuck between schumacher and Raikkonen but i think we know who is better... marginally.

It doesn't really showcase the best drivers. 4mil for a race seat. There are plenty of drivers who can't afford that, but have higher level of talent.

Receive telementary, live timings and watch races live on the internet. I'm all for that!

THe 2005 season, whoever organised that, needs the screws in their head checked. No tyre changes, crap qualifying format was shocking. 2006 qualifying still sucks. Wtaching cars burn fuel for 18minutes then put a flyer in is boring. First 2 sessions are good/okay.

For coverage, need a load more onboards. Need to see if drivers are struggling with understeer/oversteer etc

"modifying circuits for overtaking" hell yes!!!! and get rid of Tilke, that idiot makes pretty nice tracks that are nearly impossible to pass on! Look what he did to hockenheim. China circuit is a peice of crap. Turn 1 is good, but you're on the outside for turn 2 lol. The only other place is the 1.7km straight into the hairpin.

F1= follow the leader. Now thats a blast to watch. They can change all they want, but until they run races were there are more places to pass what good is it.Yes Nascar maybe boring but atleast there are more cars passing in one race than a whole season of F1 races. An if ya want to watch some sic people, wacth a superbike race or any type of road bike racing.

BTW, all racing drivers do not use the clutch when upshifting. If they do, then they're a muppet.

one of the reasons of not using alot of those techs is cause it would make the gap between the teams bigger.
as some wont be able to manage the financing of the development fo them new techs.

and the fans that suck the car to the floor once was allowed and its a good thing that it aint allowed anymore.
as one team had it and they had awesome traction but the downside was that the vacuum also sucked up stuff from the road and spit em out at the back wich makes it suck for the guy driving behind you.
