I am deciding if its worth the extra money to go with the higher-end board.

What are the main differences between the 2 boards? (other than the chipset difference)
-In terms of features, and overclockabillity (if thats a word)

Thanks

P5B 965 chip
P5W 975 chip

i'm aware of this, i was wondering if, other than the chipset, if there are any significant differences?

yes ,if your planning on using 2 gfx ,then 975 is your choice .965 chipset only runs 8 and 4 when to grafik cards are run .where 975 runs 8x8 ,if im not mistaken.

Doesn't 965 run 16 and 4?

I want an x4 slot, but I don't want to slow the GFX card.

Well i think i'm going to be running one card until RD600, then i will buy a new motherboard.

I just want to know if the P5B Deluxe can run a FSB of at least 445....

The key is that the 965X can't do 8x/8x only 16x/4x so you can't run CF or SLI (with the right drivers).

Why do you want a 965 Chipset when the superior 975X chipset is available already?

This is an Exact reiteration of the Intel 865/875 Chipset Scenario. 875, aka Canterwood appeared for sale before 865 Springdale boards. Basically cos the 865 Chipset was full of Bugs, hence the 875 Canterwood. Springdale 865 came out after 875 Canterwood, with revisions to put the bugs right & they sold it as a cheaper alternative.

Its the "Same sh1t,.....Different day" scenario with the 965/975 chipset, only this time, they've Iced the Cake with other BS RE: Graphic cards, where nVidia & SLI is NOT officially supported.

It depends how bigga Slice of the sh1t Cake you wanna eat. Pay your money & take your pick!, or is that , you pay your money & you take your sh1t?

I really hope that history does not repeat itself, and that you are wrong. I used to have a NCCH-DL which was based on 875 Canterwood, and it cost me an arm and a leg. I dont want to spend that kind of money on a motherboard again ($260 back then)

That's because the NCCH-DL is a server board, those are ALWAYS more expensive...

P5W DH has a remote, which P5B doesn't.

Personally I'm set on a P5W DH, but mainly because the price difference is only ~20$ in DK(P5W DH is the more expensive)

The P5W DH may have a remote, but the P5B Deluxe has a DIRECTIONAL MIC! I just think the P5W DH is WAY too expensive. I can see the P5B Deluxe at $200 at launch and spend most of its life at $150 afterward.

There's another consideration.

P5W DH is based on well proven technology (ie ICH7 and Lakeport family NB).

P5B's are based on brand new technology (ICH8 and Broadwater).

I personally like the idea of using well proven technology that both Intel and Asus have had a lot of experience with. (especially since ICH8/Broadwater don't provide a whole lot of "must have" compelling benefits)
