Following a string of emails with the G.Skill USA technician I have moved from an A8N-E to one of the recommended manufacturers, Microstar International, aka MSI. The specific model is the MS-7194 or the MSI RD480-Neo2 (with the FI extension, Firewire and something else). I am able to get the ram to run at DDR400 speed with dual channel, yet I can not find a choice in the bios for a divider. I was able to find a memclock selector, which the max you can choose is 200 (x2 = ddr 400). I have tried Bios 3.1 and 3.2 (the newest bios').

Tbreak does fairly well at giving the screen that I have choices from

Any help would be much appreciaiated on getting the memory to run at ddr 500 speeds. Note that the CPU "FSB" (as described in the bios) is different of the memory speed.

Thanks,
BV

well under adjust DDR Memory frequency, it should give you the option of DDR500

I would have thought that as well but I do not see it. This is an E6 revision processor, even the MSI bios sees it as one. I know I talked to a friend with another MSI (different model) and as soon as he had his 3700 in there it showed the ddr500 option in that memory area.

Then use liveupdate and get the latest Bios, it should fix that problem.
OFFICIALLY all MSI Retail Mobos support DDR500 or Faster.

As noted in my first post I have tried bios' 3.1 and 3.2 (3.2 is the newest). Unfortunately it is not fixing it. Thanks for the recommendation though. Just a note, under adjust memory frequency, I can only choose speeds of 100,133,166 or 200. This has been the same on both bios'.

Thanks Again,
BV

This is just an update.

After talking with MSI and with GSkill the following has been reached. According to MSI no motherboard but the K8N Diamond Plus has official support for ddr500. After talking with GSkill it was reached that the only way to have the ram run at ddr 500 speeds is to change the CPU FSB to 250.

Well Now I need to figure out what to do. Heck the motherboard was only $55 after rebate and it would cost 20-25 to ship it back (including the ZZF ripoff return policy) so I will probably end up keeping this board and selling my A8N-E or keeping it around for one of the 3 other 939 systems I have.

And thank you for helping.

Just as an update. I did get this working, I used A64info to change the memclock...which can not be changed in the bios.
