Hey guys, i just installed my new Opteron 165

CCBBE 0610 DPMW

at stock volts i idle at 38C and at dual priming after about 20 minutes im at 49C-50C..

are these supposed to be this high?? or did i maybe mount my TTBT wrong...

i had a san diego before this and it was 33C idle / 38C load ..... i understand that this has 2 cores and its naturally gunna be hotter but still..

My 170 runs 51c stock voltage, alum hsf... its normal i guess.

Sounds about right for stock heatsink.. but for TTBT, it seems a little high

ambient ?

this thing does run very hot, shouldn't be suprised.

Lets compare this with mine, with ambient temps of exactly,

25°C

my idle temp is exactly,

33°C

so just tell us your ambient temp and we'll know whether or not your TT BT is installed incorrectly.

well i have the AC blowing in the room, keeping the room at ~25C

and just to give u a comparison.... im dual Blend Priming @ 2900mhz @ 1.45v (set in bios, showing 1.4 in cpuz) .. and my temps are 53C !

oh and my case panel is open too!

whats the deal??

Bad mount.

Bad mount.

well i just remounted...this time i spread out my AS5 instead of the dab method....i made sure it was thin as could be....and temps are pretty much the same, and ive noticd that its honestly no different weather the side panel is on or off.....

i swear i tightened down the TTBT enough, i have one of those mini wrenches and i used it to tighten it down real good.... but do u think its still not tight enough? this is rediculous

It has nothing to do with a bad mount. CCBBE & CCB1E's naturally run hotter. CCBWE's run cooler, I have a CCBIE currently and on air it loaded 45c+ no matter what the room temp was, but i also used to own a CCBWE that only loaded 34c stock in a 70f ambient and 38 when it was 80f+. All temps were benched on a thermaltake big typhoon with arctic silver5.

To solve this problem you'll be forced to remove the ihs, thats what i did, but i don't have my temp results yet because i'm still working on my water cooling.

oh blah, i def dont wanna remove my IHS, not yet, i just got the cpu ... i removed it from my san diego a few weeks ago, i just never really felt safe without the thing on...

Your temps are normal, before I remove IHS on the 0608MPMW I had 46C load at 1.45v, 3Ghz.. on water

50C stock and 53C 2.9 GHz sounds abnormally good to me. The TT BT works best with high airflow so if you don't have a 120cfm Panaflo, you need to get one.

He's fine

I have only ~7C better temps than him with same voltages and it's air vs water

Well mine CCB1E 0609FPMW runs very hot! My temp are around 60c and with water!!! Should I reapply IHS?
Idle temp: ~40c
Load temp: ~60c

yea i guess ive neglected that idea....ill order one and see if it improves

Don't forget you need a case with good airflow for a big heatsink to work its wonders. If you have bad airflow the HS will just recirculate hot air no matter how good the fan on it is.

ccbbe's and ccb1e typically have greater tdps, because of higher leakage currents thus promoting higher heat output. the good news is, they're typically better overclockers because of this..

so what would anyone say the top temp for these chips are? I got my system to turn off if >60C
my idle/load temps are 32/47C and ambient at 27C

My CCBWE is a cooker... 83c for one core and 74c+ for the other under S&M load at 2600 with 1.45v

Temps are according to the tool found in this thread, though: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=103639

holy jumping beans on a stick!! that's hot. are you on air? I'm getting 65C core1 & 60C core2 on load at 3030Mhz at 1.6v :)
is that clock your everyday use clock? so It's safe to say that these opterons can handle the heat well :)
what is your TDP? mine is 85Watts

on an undervolt(1.264V), my opteron(B1E or perhaps BBE ddin't look at steeping closely and lsot paper where i wrote it down, i knwo it wasn't BWE though) got as low as 27C idle and was running load at 48Cish both cores and 35ish for one core.

I had a very good opteron 165. I <3ed it... conroe converted me though...

2.61G prime stable 24 hours at 1.264 is amazing IMO and I was lucky, only thing that kept me from going higher was the simple fact that my DFI Ultra-D didn't want to go past 295HTT without a voltage increase(and I always intend to keep my systems long term so I don't up the Vs too much.)
