What's the difference between Pentium 4 955 EE & Pentium 4 965 EE?
The only difference I can see is stock clockspeed and stock multi.
Are there any other?

That wouldn't differ too much from the way many other P4s are related would it?

Sure that link is correct?

130nm, 512kb L2 cache, 1.525v, ...
And I thought all 9xx EE's are 65nm...

Does L3 make a lot of difference? 965 0kb L3 & 955 2048kb L3

965EE is more efficient (runs cooler), due to the C1 stepping. Other than that, stock multiplier (and hence validated clock speed) is the only other difference.

The two chips, from what I've read anyway, overclock similarly.

You're not looking at the right chips.

Ok, thanx :toast:

One last question,
how much would you guys pay for a Presler 955 EE?
I know value is kinda relative.. but the thing is I have the chanche to exchange my P4 640 with a PD 955 EE, and I haven't got any idea of how much I should lay on..

:edit:
I've just discovered the cpu I'm talking about is a Gallatin (http://www.techpowerup.com/cpudb/details.php?id=13):eh:
Any knows how "goold" they are, would it outperform my P4 640?

I think - you shold stay @ yer 640 ... Gallatin is
1)"old" 130nm ... will heat more
2)I think - performance will be lower ...

...BUT ... Gallatin has unlocked multi like other XEs ...

so it`s up to you to choose...
I would rather stay @ 640

Gallatin core Extreme Editon CPUs are NOT multiplier unlocked. Intel only began unlocking them with the 840 EE chips.

well, then Gallatin CPU has no benefits ... stay @ 640 !!1

I'm going to stay with my P4 640 ;)
I've been searching on the net for overclocks with Gallatin
4.0GHz with Mach 2 :stick: my 640 can do that on air

and I found out it isn't unlocked, only the ES cpu's were unlocked from x13 to x16
only XE is unlocked, not EE

Gallatin is a sucky cpu...
I was only intrested because I thought it was a 955 XE,
the owner didn't know it himself, the only thing he knew is that it has L3 cache
and Gallatin is the only cpu with L3 cache
Gallatin hasn't got any benefit over 6xx, only disadvantages
