MoBo: ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe (http://images.people.overclockers.ru/79327.jpg) (Vdrop + Vmem) modded
CPU: Pentium4 XE Gallatin ES (3.2GHz, 2MB L3, 130nm, S478)

Add my DI/LN2 cooling kit (http://images.people.overclockers.ru/79100.jpg)and you`ll get this kind of setup:
Pic1 (http://images.people.overclockers.ru/79338.jpg)
Pic2 (http://images.people.overclockers.ru/79337.jpg)
Pic3 (http://images.people.overclockers.ru/79328.jpg)
Pic4 (http://images.people.overclockers.ru/79447.jpg)
Pic5 (http://images.people.overclockers.ru/79449.jpg) :)

To cool this thing I used DI ...
But (as I established later) the contact between the CPU and container was ... well ... there wasn`t any :p:
Temps @ stock (running BIOS) ... 89C ... 103C .... shutdown ...
I have realised, that the DI container sits bad on the CPU, so I decided to remove and reset it ... but it was too late ... :(
Look what happened to the CPU : http://images.people.overclockers.ru/79450.jpg :slobber:
It`s not thermal paste ... it`s IHS melted !!! The CPU is dead ... doesn`t start @ neither P4C800-E, nor P4P800-SE
All this means that thermal protection did not work ... why

The worst thing is that this CPU doesn`t belong to me ... I don`t how to give it back ... I will be :slapass:

P.S. here (http://rapidshare.de/files/23682184/_.wmv.html) is a little video of me loading the DI tube with ... DI :)

You can't melt the IHS at just 100C

Here`s the full pic of the "killed" CPU http://img64.imageshack.us/img64/51/dsc026400mr.th.jpg (http://img64.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsc026400mr.jpg)

Seconded.
Coppers melting temp is above 1000C.
It`s just some leftovers of thermal grease.

It just isn`t thermal grease ... I removed it before making this photo ...
I don`t know what it is, but I cannot remove it ... :(

P.S. I don`t care what it is ... the biggest problem for me now is what to say to XS member (from Sweden ... he asked not to say his name) who has sent me this CPU for benching ...

tell him what happened and replace it.
be honest dont lie or mislead him, tell him you made a mistake and are going to be replacing his cpu.

ask him if there is something out there that he would rather have it replaced with. maybe a cheaper better clocking cpu ???

Can you clean it with acetone and take high quality pics of the corner and whole cpu again?
