hi, guys.

i build a PM platform

PM740 OC 200*13 (volt:AUTO 1.312v) with CT-479 and ASUS cpu cooler
ASUS P4P800SE bios:1011
Corsair DDR400 512M*2
Sapphire ATI 9550 with AC3
SAMSUNG SP1203N
FSP GP400W

The temperature of room is 30 Celsius without airconditioner. i put this hardware on my floor, i feel the temp of PM740 is high, does it?

My pentium M 760 (http://members.home.nl/djthesp/Pentium_M_760_@_2400MHz.jpg) is stressed 45-46 degrees celsius on 2400 MHz.
But i have modded on a Zalman FS-C77 (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showpost.php?p=1518221&postcount=376) cpu cooler.

When it shows 49 degrees how hot does the heatsink feel?
It should be close to that temperature and be almost to hot to hold if the heat conduction is right.

Do you have any other thermal paste lying around?
(I see you have an Arctic silencer.... some Arctic Silver will do).

If so, wipe off the paste that comes on the standard cooler and put that on then remount the cooler.

It will not drop much though, maybe 1-2 degrees. :)

i did it before, because the temp is appear 91 celsius. i think it is out of order. when i remount it, the temp is appear 48 celsius.

i wanna buy another cooler, i choose zalman, but i have not choose yet. i think Zalman Fatal1ty FS-C77 is too heavy for my PM740. i wanna buy CNPS7000-AlCu, but i don't know it is fit for my PM740 and need to mod.

Yes i am scared to crush my core too, but i am getting a P4 northwood Heatspreader this week. :)

Fitting zalman coolers on the ct479 is easy.
There are pictures on how to do it in the 'Sticky: Dothan 479 How to and Fixes (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=62366)' thread. :)

Zalman coolers are heavy though.

Thermalright XP-90C (http://shop.freezinghardware.nl/index.asp?Pagina=00003&ItemID=2436) is a very good cooler also and very easy to mount. (You only have to bend the retention module brackets of the cooler some more so they will stay tight.
And it is already 300 grams lighter then my zalman.

yes, XP-90C is very good for my platform. i got the highest FSB. can you give me the picture of your XP-90C? i mean after installing. i found it needs to mod for set up.
