As much as i want to watercool my chipset ;) it wont fit.

Is there even a Lanparty Ultra-D waterblock for the chipset?

But anyways, im looking for a *SILENT!* air cooler... I have an Evercool VC-RE, but its pretty loud.

If it helps at all, i have a YL @ 5v directly blowing on the chipset. Maybe a passive one will work? i dunno if it will fit thought

You wouldn't even need the fan if you have a YL on it.

And the swiftech MCW30 fits it if you're going WC.

(Sidewinder has that cooler instock too).

i know im gunna get all yelled at... but... my budget is very low, and if im gunna spend $30, its gonna be on a waterblock.

so try to keep it as cheap as friggin possible..

btw, Shpoon, the MCW actually fits on an ultra-d ?

According to DFI-street.com this the best you can get if not using water.

You can run this passive: http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=4638

It's over your budget though.

You could also get a passive Zalman sink and mod it yourself to make it fit.

I wouldn't even look into active cooling for a silent solution.

are those EK blocks that good? I mean like how those a EK wave compare to a Alphacool Nexxxos XP or a Innovatek XX-flow block?

i have the VC-RE.. which is identical, except the RF comes with heatsinks... and it is too loud.

I meant RE sorry, at this point I don't think there is a better option for us DFI'ers

I have a brand new Thermalright HR05 passive cooler. If interested PM me. I have too many chipset coolers lying around.

MCW30's do NOT fit on the nForce 4 Ultra-D/SLI-D/SLI-DR. Only Expert and Venus. Plus, why don't people listen? There's literally no performance increase by watercooling your chipset...

...but he can improve the DBa, which seems the ultimate goal here.

Have you checked out the new Zalman "flower" nB sink? I'm not sure it will fit a SLI-DR, but it's another option.

Nobody was asking for a performance increase, only noise decrease.

You'll have to save up some money if you want to WC your chipset.

Oops, sorry. I suggested the JingTing because a) It won't subtract performance from a waterloop, and b) it'll work just as well as the WC one would without impacting on the CPU/GPU temps.

You can cut up a Zalman VF700 if you can find one cheap. It works great, but a few downsides - you lose all sata, and some lower slots. Of course, you can always cut it some more, like I did.

I have an evercool vc-re, I run it at 7v and it's inaudible.

nah it still makes a ticking noise at that speed, i think this is what red.sky is hearing and trying to avoid. it annoyed the hell outta me too so i ended up picking up the jing ting ts0005 AND 0006 AND microcool NB cooler. now i dont even run the fan on the jing ting cooler, so its passive but has airflow around it because of the fan i have cooling hte vregs and ram on my 2 gfx cards.

Red, i saw your WTB post on dfi street buddy and was gonna holla, but i see ya dont wanna spend much. i mean i would REALLY reccomend the jing ting for hassle free performance and flexibility (assuming you might ever wanna go SLI) but that other option of using the vga zalman cooler is pretty awesome too. i would have done it if i wasn't sli'ed.

in any case, pm me if you dont find a zalman OR dont buy the brandn ew jing ting. they were RARE man i searched high and low for them before the rev2's became available and it took me months of listening to the damn ticking on the evercool cooler. so if you want one of mine i'd be happy to take it outa ma case and get you a price in yer budget. for a fellow XS regular
