Hello,

I was wondering if you guys have any idea how much will the X6900 will cost when it comes out around Christmas. Since the X6800 will cost 1000 USD, will it be accurate to predict a 1300-1500 USD price tag?

Also, why will the Pentium D Extreme cost the same as the X6800 while the latter is so much better?

Expect the current PEE to be discontinued.

Also, the X6900 will cost ~$1100, and the X6800 to have its priced cut by a few hundred.

Most likely circumstance

Because the x6800 is not out yet. We still have a few days to go :)

EE/XE chips harldly ever loose their price.

Yeah, i know but i read in the roadmap that the Pentium XE and the X6800 will cost the same. Isn't this accurate?

almost all the XEs have the same price tag, between $990 and $1200, when the 6900 will be released, it'll take the place of the 6800, and its price...

Intel always charges 999$.

So the X6800 will be cheaper :p:

Ok thanks. It would be great if the X6900 costs "only" 1000$

The X6800 will be $999 until the X6900 comes out, then it'll get a price cut and the X6900 will be $999.

Judging on the way previous Extreme Editions have been rolled out, X6800 will be EOL'ed, X6900 will come out at the same price, and there will be an E6800 introduced.

Conroe is not retail yet and you're asking for the price of the next Conroe XE?

LOL.

Well going with hte Presler 955 XE and 965 XE simultaneously existing at 999US.

I expect a X6800 and X6900 to both be priced at 999US when X6900 launches.

Hopefully there will be a E6800 launched for something reasonable like 637US.

I was under impression that there will be no X6900, but E6900 afaik will be
in the pricerange you've mentioned.
afaik there is no signs of next XE other than Kentsfield.
and that'll gonna be well over $999

Head over to Dailytech, there are rumors of a sppedbumped X6900 in Q4 2006, and there is no data to indicate that Kentsfield will be anything but like the 999US of other Xtreme Edition Processors.

The roadmap that was posted at those OCforums were made up E6800/E6900 existance isn't guranteed.

Edit: Spelling

rumor I have seen told Kentsfield would be the next EE cpu.

It could be since the difference between the E6700 and the X6800 is nearly nothing. They have to offer something "more" to justify the price.

I think that a 266MHz plus and an unlocked multiplier is more than enough to justify its price.

But from what I have seen here, the X6800 don't have unlocked multiplier.

Give it a chance wait till the actually Core 2 Extreme release.

Kentsfield may be a Core 2 Extreme chip. Before that, however, expect Intel to raise the clock of the Core 2 Extreme to over 3 GHz "by the end of the year (http://www.tgdaily.com/2006/06/01/intel_core_2_extreme_demonstrated/)". Core 2 Extreme was rumored to come with a 1333 MHz FSB, at one time, before the 1066 MHz bus was announced. Maybe Intel will raise the FSB speed to 1333, too.

XE has 6-60 multiplier options IIRC.
