Hello, have this Pentium D950, it have died away slowly.
it still boots and run but the response to volt and fsb have faded away gradualy.
So when i bought a new chip to replace it i poped the hs, as we all know the Intel Ihs`s are "soldered" on, the tim is lika a metal with low melting temp.
To get the ihs off without cracking the core, i heat the ihs carefully with a torch.. :p:
results are:

Solder is real soft and can be removed with the finger nail..
Now i just wonder, have anny of you extreme beeings tryed this and found bubles in the solder like you can see at the pictures?!
I realy dont think those bubles formed when pulling the ihs, and would be KILLING the coolig of those core parts...I suspect this killed this chip..:slapass:
Any comments?
