I didn't really want to make a thread for this, but I'm pretty unsure right now...

I was going for the MSI K9N SLi Plat. but then I heard about the issues, tho I know they're mostly nForce 500 problems, but also w/ the passive HS and whatnot. So I switched to the Abit K9N SLi, and I'm thinking that it's a better choice. What's the general concences?

The total build is in green in my sig, and I plan on buying one of those 65nm dual cores when they're out.... or rather Santa does :p: (...I hope)

I don't think anyone here tried both boards already.

I'm pretty happy with my MSI platy. It's not perfect, but what do you expect from a new brand new board ? It takes some time to work out all the kinks.

Let us know how the ABit board turns out.

Ya, I will. Why not? Looks like I'll be a guinea pig for once.

Abit KN9 this time around is just a better product stability wise and performance wise.

Certainly, there are some issues with the MSI AM2 boards. Those problems may yet be worked out. I believe common sense dictates that it is too early to declare a winner.

I testing K9N Platinum :stick: with 3000+

No vdd regulation in bios, shut down when click restart in windows and pasive cooling nForce chip ( very hot on stock clocks ).

In this time any board for am2 is not good. But msi vs abit, hmmm abit !

Also maybe Asus ?

ive been using a msi k9n plat for the past 2-3 weeks, and I don't like it. The bios leaves much to be desired. I bought an abit kn9 sli today and I'll be swapping it in today or tomorrow, and I'll let you know how it goes.

Foxconn ;) I've been running it since monday at ddr1142 with tight timings (for the speed) at 1.65vcore 2.5vdimm perfectly stable no BIOS issues. Only problem is the price.

well i got me a good deal on the MSI K9n Plat. SLI, and i dont have any restart probs or anything. the passive hs does get warm, so that could be a bigger hs. i think the BIOS will get better with the bios updates and all, so im not worried about that. Right now, it's too early to determine full potential i feel. GL with the Abit!

I have the MSI, and there are alot of things it lacks and others that are buggy. Try the abit, may be a lil better.

The Abit is a better board, even with immature BIOS. Both boards are so new and not many people are ready to jump to ddr2, so there are little reviews and feedback, but from the info I have gathered, the Abit is far better which is why I picked one up myself. The voltages are unwavering on this board and I haven't had a single hiccup from it.

Hey John,
Is THIS (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813138026) the board you are refering to? And if so, what makes it so special that you would recommend it over the other boards?
