You think since AM2 is out and everything is switchin to DDR2, the price will drop (lets say by august)..... I'm upgradin to Conroe but waitin till august when the RD600 chipset is out but i need a new mobo now, so i have two in mind, one uses DDR (which i have 1.5GBs now) and one uses DDR2 (which i will get 1GB of), so i'm thinkin of gettin the DDR one and hopefully DDR2 prices will drop alittle. You think prices will drop and if so how much?

Prices have already dropped. You just have to know which ones have the best price/performance.

How much are you looking to spend and how much capacity are you looking for ?

Top of the line 2gb starts at ~$200. Top of the line 1gb around $115.

P.S. That just pc 550w psu won't be so stable with conroe.

lol yea the PSU..... i wont be usin it soon, i'm gettin an OCZ Gamexstream 600W psu so yea.....

Well i'm lookin to get 1GB of ram, most likely G.Skill and i would like to get 800 but i'll most likely get 667 which i can get for $75 at newegg (the 800 is $120 at newegg, 4-4-4-12 timings).... i have a budget for my upgrades so i cant get 2GB :(

Is $75 your max or can you go higher?

WAIT. Why are you skimping on ram if you have a budget that includes an X1900XT ?

Make w.e suggetions u want.... the more the merrier.... the thing is with everything i want, i'm already a few bucks over my budget without shippin (and just estimatin about $150 for a mobo since thats wut many articles say the RD600 chipset will cost)... I love suggetions and if u like a certain company over G.Skill thats fine, its just the G.Skill i have now is pretty good and i've had no problems..

The reason i'm askin is cuz i can get this board now: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813127204 and then get a RD600 chipset mobo and DDR2 ram in august with a allendale and hopefully price will drop so i can get DDR2 800 instead of DDR2 667
or
i can get a cheap mobo now with a stick of DDR2 667 (1GB) and then just get a RD600 mobo and allendale in august

I have heard the opposite. DDR2 price "should" increase this summer because of higher demand (Core 2 Duo boost and AM2 too) DDR1 still use most of the production lines so it's fully possible there would be a shortage on DDR2, making price higher.
The price on some module right now is quite low (below $200 for 2gb of PC2-6400 DDR2 ram is up par to good DDR1 ram) I don't see those memory going lower in price before the end of the year.. Just my opinion, but as long people are ready to pay for it, they won't drop the price.

Beside the PC2-8000 which is currently overpriced, other won't drop much.

I am thinking the prices are going to go up with the ramped up demand conroe/am2 are going to create.

thunderstruck!

I'm a little displeased at the DDR2 currently on the market. There aren't any ICs that impress me and most of the ram seems to perform too similarly. I'm hoping someday there will be a successor or a new phase of insane DDR2 like fat bodies. For now, I'll just stick with 1GB fatties and hope something better/hotter eventually comes out.

Honestly I think prices in ddr2 is rather high still. Especially the ones in $500 for 2GB; it should be around $350. When 2GB of ram cost more than a brand new Conroe, there is something not right there. The same can be said about the graphic card industries as well, way overpriced.
