I got my PSU yesterday and the first thing what happened when I tried to boot up was not detecting my RAM.. later I found out it was due to the VDIMM trick I used..
This morning when I tried to cold boot I got the same three leds on my DFI.. the caps were placed in the 4.0v position as I need 3.3v to run my timings..

I just ran MemTest and it gave me no errors whatsoever.. so the RAM is good..

So the question is.. why won't it let me run with the VDIMM trick like I could with my ModStream and why did it fail to boot again this morning...?
I'd love to go back to the VDIMM trick as it saves me 5°C at least...

This PSU doesn`t have adjustable rails so no Vdimm trick here.
And when you switched to 4V jumper haven`t you forgot to set needed voltage in BIOS ?

Nope.. it's set at the right voltage...
My ModStream also didn't have adjustable rails but it booted regardless... the GameXStream just won't..

What Vdimm Trick are you talking about? You will not get 3.3V unless your 3.3V line is at least 3.45....have you measured the Vdimm you are getting with the GameXstream and your "trick" ?

There is no way for me to answer your question why exactly it worked with a modstream and not the gamexstream....nothing for me to reference.

This one.... http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=61632

Both lines measured the same... give or take 0.5v The Modstream boots fine with it but the GameXStream doesn't.

Also without the trick but the cap placed to the 5v feed made it fail to boot too twice...

Have you cleared the CMOS and run 1 stick at a time to see if 1 boots and 1 doesn't with the trick?

This is really interesting... I applied the trick with both sticks still in the yellow slots and now it booted just fine...
The only thing changed since last weekend is me doing some serious wire management on the PSU cables.. now each cable except for the second PCIe one is being used.

The main issue now is my 3.3 line is undervolting by 0.12v so I'm getting stability errors...

So I'm stuck with what to do now. I can run those sticks with 3.3v but then my temps go up or I need to set my timings to something different with a much lower voltage...
What would you advise for 24/7 settings...?

If you run 2-3-2 at 3.2 or 3.1V or maybe even 3.0V....that would be my recommendation.

2-3-2 might also let you run more ram speed with less voltage.

Orange slots always worked the best for me over yellow...using the 704-2BT bios.

The orange slots....? I always thought due to my chips it would be best to run them in the yellow ones... I'm using the 0406BTA Bios...

So it's tcl 2, trcd 3, trrd 2 correct..? Also do I need to losen up tras as it's currently at 6?

Timings are 2-3-2-x (CAS-Trcd-Trp-Tras) Tras can be 5 - 8

So far it seems to work... About the drive strenght level 5/6/7/8. it only lets me choose between normal1-4 and weak1-4... those levels you posted are the weak ones correct? :)

Oops .... sorry you did say BT bios.

Weak 3 = 5
Normal 3 = 6
Weak 4 = 7
Normal 4 = 8

It's really a shame it won't run on 260Mhz (1:1) without messing up XP for some odd reason.. gives me the missing system32/config/system error.. LOL

Anyways lots of thanks Ryder for the excellent customer support! :)

Arghhhh.... this morning the same thing happened... I switched the central mains and hit the power button on my case.... three leds..
I shut her down, pressed the button again and I'm good to go...

You must have a DFI board.. Yea, you do ;-). It's a little bug, so if it boots up then it's fine. I had cold boot problems all the time with my ch-5 sticks. I'm using CE-5 now, I think, and there hasn't been a problem yet.

How come I never had any probs with my Modstream then...? Sucks though if that's really the case... :(
