Ok, I am attempting to install these things and am having one hell of a time. I uninstalled that cat 6.3's and then used driver cleaner to clean it.

Go to install 6.5's, reboot and nothing, open the CCC and it says, "No ATI graphics driver is installed, or the ATI driver is not functioning properly. Please install the ATI driver appropriate for your ATI hardware."

I am on a x1900xt with XP Pro 64bit. I have the correct driver and I have everything right I am assuming. I don't get what is wrong.

6.5 sucks anyway, I wasn't able to start BF2 or certain other games (between reinstalls of css, sometimes it would work sometimes it wouldn't) but 6.3 was fine

I've had absolutely no problems witht the 6.5. Uninstall, and make sure you use drivercleaner in safe mode, then reinstall. I'm also using .NET Framework 2.0. If you are still having problems, it's either your OS install being funky, or your hardware. Good luck.

Well, I've tried them twice now in between windows installs.. first install, CSS, or HL2 wouldn't work, depending on which order I installed them. Also BF2 wouldn't work, as usual.. this was Omega 6.5

Reinstalled windows for some other reason, this time using bare ati 6.5 (no .net or ccc)+tray tools+atitool, css/hl2 are fine but not bf2, install 6.3 and it's great.

PS I have tried using .net 1.1 and ccc, no different.. I'm gonna try 6.6 beta and see if it's any different. I have seen others complaining about stability issues with 6.5, so it's not just me

I'm running XP32, but as far as XP32 goes I agree with you Repoman - the 6.5s' suck. I tried the standard Cat 6.5s, then the Omega 3.8.252s' (Cat 6.5-based), then went with the (Cat 6.3-based) Omega 3.8.231s', which is what I am running now.

Overclocker16 - the new XP64 Catalyst 6.6 Suite is out now, you should give those a try. Maybe ATI fixed a bug(s) in the 6.5 release that caused install problems?

I can't install any driver without a problem. It's like it's using a Default driver instead of going to the ATi one and then causing problems.

Because if I uninstall the ATi and reboot the resolution should be at 640x480 and horrible color etc. But it stays at 1280x1024...so I don't know what else I can do.

I switched from Omega 6.3 to 6.5 to try and stop BF2 1.3 CTDs. Nothing has changed besides a 50 point decrease in 3DMark05. Hopefully 6.6 will be better.

Hmm Im running the 6.5's as well and have had a relay hard time trying to load a simulator, havent tried the 6.3's maybe I will. Im new to ATI so Im a little wet behind the ears, I never had any problems like this with my nvidia card. I was planning on getting a x1900xtx but if I cant use my simulator then IOll just go with anther nvidia card.
