I have a Conroe E6700 (stepping 4 according to CPUz) and the Asus P5W DH board. Works great, but despite saying it is multiplier unlocked, I can't seem to set any options that work.

The BIOS says the min ratio is 18 and the max ratio is 24. I have no idea what its talking about, but then right under it say Default ratio 10, which is correct. Changing it to anything 18-24 does nothing.

Any thoughts?

Here you go, Merom on the left, Conroe on right.

did you rip of the merom socket?

or does Asus provider an adapter :slobber:

Looks like you are doing it right, maybe the BIOS are buggy ATM

That's just how the Merom came, I didn't rip it off. :)

No idea yet, haven't gotten that far. I usually don't do the extreme OC'ing you guys do here.

I guess the bios isn't 100% Conroe compatible because it's saying the CPU has 8MB cache... It thinks it is some kind of Pentium D or so...

I did, that didn't change anything.

seems the actual bios has some kind of problems with your very early A1 stepping 4 Conroe

B0 and stepping 5 seems to work fine , we will see some reviews in the next days.

actually asus is well known for their so called "maturing bios " phenomenae , get the newest

so I think there is hope on the horizon :-) ...
