I was placing an order with one of my distributors (D&H Distributing) today and noticed that they have all the Intel Core 2 Duo's (Conroe) posted up online. I will be calling my Rep tomorrow to find out when they expect to have them in and how soon to I can get my hands on them. My other distributor (Ingram Micro) had them up on Monday but I don't usually use them since there prices aren't as competitive as D&H. Just wanted to let everyone know, Conroe is starting to show up. Now I'm just waiting for the Conroe supported motherboards to show up at my distributor.

holy price gougeOn what? The prices look reasonably inline with what we've been told before considering that there is a large VAT included.

Just looking at the E6600 at 266.56 Euros (pre-tax) that would convert to $335.23 at the current interbank rate. IIRC that's only $20 over the qty 1000 price.

Yeah man, VAT seems like it would be freakin' hell...but is there different rates for food like we have here in US?

Now I'm really thankful that the US can normally get away without paying taxes on internet stuff until April...my computer would have killed me if I had to pay right out.

I'm glad that we're seeing these prices up though - very positive sign of availibility.

I'm currently showing "Conroe" with an ETA of 7/5/06. Confirming with my distributors if I will be able to have stock of these prior to the official release date of 7/23/06. My rep said I should have them in my hands prior to 7/23/06 but he said he has to confirm that. Great news!!! Maybe I could put together some sort of "Group Buy" or something for people that can't get there hands on these soon enough.

You guy are crying about tax. In Quebec (Canada) it's 15% on everything we buy and 50% on everything we gain.

With our $20/hours (which is higher than average salary and considered very nice) you have a nice 8.70$ buying power.. And add to this our money is about 12% lower than US dollars and most of the retailer didn't adjusted price since over a year (when the money was about 30% vs US dollars)

So overall, our nice $20 by hour worth about 6$us in a Canadian computer store.

Now imagine the guy that earn the minimum salary of $8.70/hour

Sweden= 25% VAT. :bananal:
Almost 50% TAX for the money you earn.
Then a certain amount TAX for the money you have.
If you own a house you'll pay tax for owning it, then for selling it, then for the money might have left after the sale. There’s more but I’m getting depressed.

22% VAT here in Finland so it's pretty much the same :( One shop here has Conroe and Allendale cpu's on their site :woot: Prices start at 240e for E6300 and X6800 tops at 1020e.

Austria = 20% VAT; this is bad enough, but 25% is really bad :bananal:
For the rest, it's the same sh*t here. :(

In .at it's 10% for food, books and some other stuff, in some rare cases there can be a 12% VAT.
Should be similiar in other EU member states.

No tax on food (or books afair) in the UK.

Historically, computer parts are converted at $1 = £1 which has always been a rip.

It looks more and more like E6700 for me.

I was told by my rep that I will have these in my shop prior to the July 23 Official Release date. Exactly how soon before 7/23 he could not tell me. I live 35min from them so as soon as there in I will be able to go pick up my order. I hope it more early July instead of late July. I have a few customers systems designed for conroe and I am just waiting on motherboard and cpu.

Ingram Micro is showing me an available date of 7/7/06, don't know how true that is though.

Will keep everyone updated with any info I get.

Plus, I imagine OCUK have jacked up the prices a bit purely due to it being a pre-order.

Here in The Bahamas we pay customs duty as high as 82% and we can't buy any tech until at least a couple of months after its release. i'd like to get in on Conroe right away but the wife has a new baby on the way the first week of july. Might just settle for a Bad axe and 920 overclocked to 3.7ghz

Haha, in the US the VAT (or sales tax) depends on what state you live in. I live in Pennsylvania (6%), but I can travel about 5 minutes out of state to Delaware where there is NO sales tax at all! So you bet I do all of my shopping in Delaware!
