Hello all, just ordered 2 X 1024 of ram ro replace me 2 X 512. Both are OCZ gold and both 667. When place in slots the new ram would not let the computer boot. I switched slots and no change. I put the old ram back in and it fired right up. Did I get brand new bad ram? I just want to be sure I am not missing something. Also I have an 805 chip "for now" with 533FSB, whaen I try to set the ram speed to 667, also no boot. Is this because I cant run the ram faster than the FSB?

Try putting your old ram in, setting the speed in Bios to 533 and 5 5 5 15 timings and the recommended voltage for your new OCZ ram. Save the settings, exit, turn off and try installing the new OCZ ram to see if it will boot.

ram says 4-4-4-8 right on it and I am running at 533. M

why would old (2wks) 512 staicks be 4-4-4-12 and the new 1GB sticks be 4-4-4-8? I am not an experienced OC'er, but trying to learn. Looks like there are some 4-4-4-12 at newegg. Mine were on special at Zipzoomfly. guess thats why. Havent seen the 5-5-5-15 yet. Is there much difference with the timings in improvment? ( dont laugh, learning)

Well, putting them at 5-5-5-15 will give you a better chance of booting, because there is a chance that the timings that you were using for the 2x512 are too tight for the 2x1gb.

Changed to 5-5-5-15 settings and 1GB sticks still wont boot. Left the settings and put 512 sticks back and no problems. I read on some other sites that alot of people have been getting these bad. Is there a significant advantage to the 4-4-4-15 or 5-5-5-15 compared to these 4-4-4-8 units. If so there is no point in "exchanging" them for the same thing. I think these are just plain bad?

What about the Voltage?

OCZ Rams mostly take like 2V - 2.2V

The 512mb*2 kit, must be running @ 1.8V or sumthing....

Check that out...

Ive got a similar problem, my OCZ PC6400 Platinum XTX (rated DDR800 4-5-4-15 1.9 volts) will not boot when the divider is set to 667 on the bad axe. I have an 805 CPU as well, not sure if its the 533FSB causing problem with it. Ive tried all the voltages available, set timings to 5-5-5-15, 4-4-3-12 (the SPD programmed timings) and tried when I had the FSB set to 800MHz (yes it all boots fine with FSB at 800 and memory on 533 divider, but 667 is a no-go).

Problems, problems... But when you buy an Intel rev. 302 mobo and put a new D - 960 processor in it, the system hangs when Windows installation is installing devices @ 35mins :stick: . I'm still awaiting a rev 304 to rectify a possible incompatability problem. Intel is currrently running tests on this issue to my knowledge. No other hardware is believed to be at fault. Still waiting... :(

I have voltage set to 2.1 with no luck. I have not tried to change the FSB to 800 or the divider to 533 yet, where are these in the bios, I dont recall seeing a divider setting? Can a 533MHZ FSB chip run with the bios set at 800MHZ? how will the change in the FSB and divider effect the performance / stability?

Theres a simple mod you need to perform to unlock the BIOS on the Bad Axe, see FreeCableGuys sticky for details.

What is the maximum supported memory voltage for a "badaxe" board without a Vddr mod?

If I buy a couple of 2.2-2.3v sticks, will I be able to set the voltage in bios to that value?

2.2v is maximum without modding the board.

Thanks! I hope this memory (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820231077) will run fine on it.
