I don't know... dual Woodcrest would make my web surfing (main thing my home box, box in sig, does) a hell of a lot faster. LOL... the only thing that is holding me back is the $250 I'd have to blow on a NICE eATX case. Hate paying for hardware.... LOL

how about you retire that rig to me, and ill give u my 3.4ghz pressy shuttle for ure file server? :YIPPIE:

LOL.. nice try. At least others have offered me money, not that I'll sell this stuff BTW, I'm holding out for an offer to take a hot sister/mom for the system. I'll take offers for that in the form of pictures.... oh, and NO angle shots. :D LMAO
If you do end up demoting it to file server status, why not also add a Rosetta @ Home cruncher title to it as well? :hehe:

I was going too. But then today i figured this out. Ok so I asked for a new video card for my birthday, and i gave tons of money for it already. So anyway, now my mom ordered, then she read wrong and bought the one i didnt want and i gave money for the other one. Then all of a sudden she tells me its too expensive. Now I figured "well what is the whole point of me giving you money for?" anyway, loing term short, when canceling wiht the company i orderd from, it takes like a bloody week to even hear a response. And now the sale is over and the video card i wanted isnt even on sale "great going ncix, damn, get youre peope to read the messeges first" anyway, i figured, i remember years back when high end video cards only costed 200 or so dollors. Now adays, you can barly get a decent video card with that money

anyway, im not gonna bother with computers anymore, way to expensive. The only way im dealing with comps, is for just normal taks, nothing too expensive and powerful to do. I think consols will do me better.

hey thats a pretty sweet computer dude!

I dont know, ill most possibly buy a conroe since i cooled down (was getting a 7600gt) Anyway. Im thinking of purchasing a decent Asrock board (dont wanna spend to much and for what? extreme overclocking? hah, even at lower speeds its way too good, beating AMD pretty bad. Anyway, a decent asrock board, with a 1.8ghz intel conroe with 2gigs of DDR2 667mhz memory and finaly, an x1800gto video card.

Nice thread, shortens the suffering while waiting.
Will put a conroe in my current rig:
(Main use is DV/Mpeg2 video edit/encode + MS Flightsim2004)
- Asus P5LD2
- D930
- X1600XT
- 2x512MB DDR2-5300
- 2 WD 250GB/16MB in Raid-0
- Pioneer DVR-111D

Roadmap (-> July 23):
- Connie 6600 (preordered)
- Bad Axe (expected end of next week)
- 2GB Crucial Ballistix 667MHz 3-3-3-10
- Big Typhoon or XP120 (advises would be appreciated)
Somewhere along this road i will be adding one more Raid array and maybe a dedicated SataRaid controller with lots of cache.

And then i guess i wait for a DX10 GPU sometime before Flightsim X is launched.

mobo: what ever hits the highest FSB

Cooler Master Stacker 830 in black if I can get my hands on one, otherwise a SilverStone TJ07-B

SilverStone Zeus 750watt PSU, thinking though about going to a PC P&C 1Kwatt or a Tagan 1100watt (does anyone know where I can get one in the states, I don't know much about these)

Intel 975X "Bad Axe" or Abit AW9D-MAX 975X
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600, E6700, maybe move up to a X6800
Corsair XMS2 Pro 2GB (am open to any other suggestions from others)
Sapphire Radeon X1900XT (this thing is about $370 at ZipZoomFly!)
Western Digital Cavair SE16 250GB SATA 3.0GB/sec Hard Drive
Western Digital Cavair SE16 320GB SATA 3.0GB/sec Hard Drive

I have never used Intel or ATI before so I am hopeing for good things. Of course anything is really better than my current system. Does anyone know if the RD600 would be a better choice for this than a "Bad Axe" or Abit? I know this isn't really the thread to ask questions, but if anyone has any suggestions please pm me, thanks.

I don't know about everyone else here but I can't wait for Conroe!

frag, i ordered from Denmark, www.shg.dk. They ship to many countries, more than 40 in their list inclucing China and some african countries, but cant see India listed there. Delivery date is July 23 anyway, and the price is a bit on the high side, i preordered just in case the local stores here will run out of stock before i can get one. I assume E6600 will be the one everybody wants, better be early in this small corner of the world (Norway) =)

Pentium 4 840D 3.2 Extreme Edition
4GB OCZ DDR2 PC2-6400
BFG 7800GTX OC
2 x Plextor PX-716a DVD Burner
2 x 400GB HDDs
2 x 500GB HDD

@Atomicpineapple

Some questions about your mobo+CPU....
Does the mobo support DDR2-533? and it worx fine?
I saw your 805 is running on 4GHz, is it for benchmarking only or for everyday working/gaming?
If yes, then what are your everyday freq? 3.6, 3.8?
:toast:

@For all
Do I have to have at least DDR2-667 for Conroe, or I can go with DDR2-533?
...
Can I fit Zalman7700 on Intel975XBX?

the lower end conroes seem like they might be able to clock to 450 +/- fsb; so i'd rather have ddr800 to go with that.

It supports DDR2 and works fine my 805 runs at 4GHz for day to day use, havnt really bothered finding its max bench stable speed as its only going to be used for a while and 4GHz is enough.

Out of Curiousity, what kind of ULI motherboards will there be for Conroe? I became a ULI fanboy after my Asrock dualsata 2 ULI motherboard.

The one Asrock that supports DDR/DDR2 and has the Radeon 200x chipset northbridge and uli southerbridge, that one is catching my eye. (good price too!)

Oh and im gonna get the Aopen G-325 case :http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=18439&vpn=G-325-SB&manufacture=AOPEN&promoid=1030

With good mushkind or Centon advance 2gig of DDR2667 ram.

For video? whatever that is half decent (x1800gto most likly cause it can unlock with the Connect3d verson) that will last me till DX10.

For motherboard, what I said above. But I guess also whatever comes out thats MATX and crossfire compatible (can happen, EVGA made a matx sli mobo!)

and finaly the E6300, something that I can overclock. (most likly the asrock motherboard will hold me back. But ill rethink on that mobo until I can find another price/performance board like my asrock today)

oh and the Turtlebeach Montegu or however it spelt, sound card. (love turtlebeach)

Replace my m/b with an asus 975 conroe compatible, a 6400 or 6600 and 2gb ddr2 800.

pik-ard v1.1
06-13-2006, 09:14 AM
depending on how well they OC on average, either a E4200, E6300, or an E6400

if they only hit around 3.1-3.4GHz on air cooling, the 7x multi of the E6300 will put the ram at DDR2 900 to DDR2 1000, so may be optimal to get that.

motherboard... probably something either RD600 or i965 based

ram: teamgroup PC6400 ram looks nice

video card: 6600GT for now, then upgrade to to RV570XT (X1700XT, i believe)

cooling: whatever newest/best thing that thermalright has for conroe

everything else will be moved over from my current computer.

This will be my first Intel box, had to happen sometime :)

Purchased so far:

Liquid cooling system
Koolance PC3-736BK
CPU Block CPU-305-V10
NB Block (no heat pipes for me)
2 x HD Blocks HD-55-L06
Vid card Block VID-200-L06 with VREG Block CHC-25-L06
Patriot 2 x 1GB 4-4-4 800MHz
Silverstone Zeus 650W
Creative X-FI XtremeMusic

Will purchase soon (I hope):

Sapphire X1900XT
2 x 500GB Western Digital Caviar SE16
Thinking about a Plextor PX-755A
Mobo will most likely be ASUS P5WD2-E Premium
CPU will be E6700

I should see a really big improvement over my current 754 A64 3000+ (ok I can already hear some of you saying/thinking no DUH).

Anyway, I'm waiting very impatiently for the mobo and cpu release. Hope they are readily available on July 23rd :).

Peace all.

It is nice to have this forum and all the nice people that give benchmarks and info on upcoming technology. This has definetely given me an idea of the kind of PC I want to build.

Case - Lian Li PC7077 $200 (luxury case but it is a must have)
CPU - E6600 $300
MB - ASUS P5B Deluxe (probably) $250?
RAM - Gskill 2GB PC2 6400 $245 (PATRIOT PC2-8000 DDR2 XBL if they go < $300.. but doubtful)
VID - The best one available at <= $150
DVD - NEC 3550 $40
HD - 2x 320GB Barracuda 7200.10 $240
PSU - Zeus 650W or FSP 700W $170

Comes to about $1600.

I don't want to spend alot on a vid card since DX10 cards are coming out soon. I figure it will be a while before something comes along that taxes conroe. At that time I'll get an aftermarket heatsink or get into watercooling.

Holding off on a soundcard and speakers.. Will get those when I replenish my moneys from this build. :)

My budget is limited but I try to get the best parts with it :)

Core Duo 2 E6300 or 6400
Asus P5W DH Deluxe
Cheap 2x1GB ddr2 667 or 2x512MB ddr2 800 Performance memory like Crucial Ballistix

No graphic card upgrade this time cos I don't have the money for it, but then I don't play much so my 6800GS is more than enough for now.

2 x x1800xl 512Mb-->XT CF
E6600

2Gb of RAM (have not decided yet)

i have the same block for my video card(sapphire x1900xtx) and get about 40C(690/800) full load looped with my cpu on a thermaltake w/c setup heh. I actually own a the Tai Chi case which is so huge. I think im going with the intel bad axe, an E6700 and i'll buy another set of same ram so i have 2gig, 4x512 DDR2-675. The timings are kinda crap tho 5-5-5-10 iirc.

i only wish i can run it 10x333 24/7, anything higher than that is just a bonus for me.

E6700: (would like to have the X6800, but not at the price it'll sell for.)

CPU cooler: Zalman 9500

Mobo: not sure just yet. Thinking of ordering an Intel D975XBX and going ahead getting the computer together so all I'll have to do is buy the Conroe once it's released. I have a P4 670 I can use until then.

Case: Cooler Master Stacker 810 - I already have one (still in the box it came in). I bought it just for this build.

I'll be robbing some things from one of my present computers to complete the build. The P4 670 I mentioned above, plus a BFG 7800 GTX, an Enermax Noisetaker EG701AX (600 watts) PSU, 2 X 74GB WD Raptor hard drives, 2 X 1GB of 533MHz DDR2, and some kind of opitical drive. I have several to choose from.....

First upgrade from there will be faster memory. Then probably one of the nVidia G80 series video cards once they're released.
