i'd be more interested in pinmodding 166fsb meroms to 200 in santa rosa laptop boards :).

2.33@2.8 would be pretty sweet for a laptop

What a genious idea (if it works,) because then the internal chipset pci/pci-e/ide/s-ata frequencies won't be higher than default, which is the problem 99.9% of all overclocked laptops got.

Also the core 2 duo architecture doesn't gain as much from higher FSB as it does running at higher core speed. Said in other words a merom at 14x200 will perform much the same as a merom at 13x215 or 12x233. Also you get more head room with 14x200.

Are these meroms scheduled for the same release date as Conroe?

If so, I'll hold off on buying a notebook until then.

Well i just know it's august sometime. If memory serves, the schedule was June for Woodcrest (or whatever their server chip is..i think this is it), July for Conroe and August for Merom.

Argh! August! Nooo... I need a new laptop by Mid-July.. looks like I'll have to get a cheapo yonah, and hope that merom is compatible via a simple bios update.

Did you mean 667 and 800 FSB meroms have different sockets ??? That would be awesome :slapass:

If 800 FSB merom is incompatible with both Socket 480 and Socket 479, then it must be compatible with the original Socket 478 LOL :p:

I'm curious if it will be a any diffirence to conroe results...

Santa Rosa Merom, quite interesting... can't wait to see how it performs with a 800FSB.
