I read here that the Bad Axe reads temperatures higher that what they are...

I think many Intel boards report temps too high. My D945GPT and D955XBK reported 10-15 higher than true temps.

This might be way off.

I take it you built this machine yourself. Before you put the cpu heatsink on did you apply a thin layer of thermal paste?

Good luck :).

Did you wipe cpu with 99% isopropyl? Maybe you can try lapping the ihs, it seems to help some people's temps a lot.

musmus, a lot of the intel CPUs dont have flat IHS's on them (the metal cap on top of your CPU). As a result the HSF and IHS dont really touch each other and heat is noit transfered from the CPU. 1 solution is to sand down the top of the CPU untill it is flat, search the forum for guides on 'CPU lapping'. BEWARE!!!! THIS WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY on the CPU.

Artic Silver 5 is the best

Here let me show you an example

In this photo I place 1 drop of Progold then placed a glass panel from a picture frame on top to simulate what the contact would be. Rule of them, glass panels
from most picture frame are true (flat and even) so you should be able to use them.

No, I only used progold for it's electrical cleaning properities, you want to stick on those lines and only use a drop if you go that route. In other words something more then just water.
