Well go ahead and look in the Bad Axe revision thread. From what I could gather, unless you have a Conroe Axx stepping, you don't need to do the mod. Read LarsK posts, as him and FCG address this. I am firing up my board tomorrow, and will patiently wait for Conroe.

You still need vdimm and vcore for >1.6V+

you need to mod the BIOS (quick, small ink mod) so you can OC/overvolt.

This is what you may or may not need (depending on CPU rev.)

Image 3. Vcore "Modification" - unlocked BIOS for ALL chips (optional)

Notice the 3-pin header called "BIOS CONFIG" used for flashing and maintenance mode. Now...notice the empty silk-screen locations (OC DEBUG) above that in the picture? Intel has purposefully not shown the through-holes in their pictures as they have been blacked out. (I have shown them with the yellow circles.)

Mod: Short together the holes shown. Use either conductive ink or solder. If you wish, install a header and use an extra shorting bar from your included accessories to make this mod changable!

When you boot and enter the BIOS you will have full control over CPU VID (vcore), Enhanced Power Slope (reduces vdroop to 50% default), and Default Bus Override (533, 800, 1066, 1333Mhz) with the ability to go 30% over your set FSB! ClockGen (http://www.cpuid.com/clockgen.php) also works with the ICS 954123 PLL chip. Please donate if you find the program useful.

Note: Some people have reported that this mod is not needed with B0 stepping Conroe ES CPUs on the newer rev 304 MB. Do the mod if you need to, otherwise this gains nothing.

what is the point of buying a bad axe mobo? so you can get a conroe when the become avialable in 2-3 months? there will be better boards out by launch so its kind of irrevelant.

another popular thing is people buy a $250 bad axe mobo and a $100 805 duel core. why not buy a cheap mobo to go with the 805 and save your $150 for a good mobo when conroe is available. most people are going to buy someting else anyways, and most intel people are awaiting to see what asus brings to the table and see if they are still top dog as far as intel goes.

Erm it didn't cost me $250 or 250 what so ever

ES chips rock over RRP ones

Be'ing the only ones to do stuff....you'll have to see what i mean on that when my chip finaly gets sorted as i'm getting a bit of messing about

First off the 805D is a great clocker. People are buying bad axes because they want to be able to upgrade by just buying a chip and not a new mobo. I personally got one so i can test out my ES Conroe.
