Hello Ladies (?) and Gentelmens :D
Whats can you do possibly with nice, working P4? Throw away (:D) or sell on ebay? No, that's not what I mean. Any other ideas  ? No, I'm not going to overclock it :stick: ! What more could I do with it? Yeah, gettin' off IHS is such a nice idea :D ! And what's the basic principal of takin' off the IHS? Yes, indeed, IHS loves core so much, that it won't let it go.

Yeah, I know, it's cute  .

Hmm... Core is pretty much ok.

The core isn't broken at all :D !

So, final question, is glue enough to put it together and make it workin' again :fact: ?
BTW
One thing, it wasn't hack'n'slash, I've spent 3 hours with razorblades, gently takin' off IHS without rush etc. Next time I'll use screwdriver and get the same effects in just 5 seconds

i thought with p4's that the cap was actaully soldered on and had to be slowly and carefully heated to remove it.

No it won't work with glue. You should warm up the center area of the IHS with a lighter etc. and then twist it a bit around and take it of.

Northwoods also, after Prescott launch they started with the glue
Did you heat it before you tried taking it off? Or were you constantly heating while taking it off?
I have a p4 prescott and im wondering if heating + razor blades will do the trick.
Thanks and eh funny job lol

Man it's hard removing the solder TIM. I tried it with my Northwood 2.8GHz as well, I heated it with 30sec of direct contact to a HDD that is running 57C, shift IHS a little, then heat it again. In the end, still no go :(
