I hope the car is off...otherwise that's not real smart ;)

I didn't do anything to the engine..

one day all the sudden the Tachometer gauage stopped working. :D

After the engine is turned on the needle on the Tachometer climbs up slowly and slowly until it reaches about 10k rpm and get stuck there. This happens even when the engine is at idle doing nothing.

yes the pic was taken while the engine is on..

i don't know what the deal is.. does anyone know how to fix this

new tach cable i think is the solution.... if the tach isnt attached to an ecu but maybe someone with more experience around here can tell you the exact answer

10K on an SR20DE(T) would be sick! The piston speed would be through the roof!!! The highest I have seen is 9K, I run my SR20DET at 8K. Oh well, it seems you are going so fast that you found youself in a parking lot, be sure not to be the first person to crash a parked car, lmao.

As for the problem, I have never heard of this happening. G20 clusters are fairly cheap, I would just get another one because I am sure the problem is in the cluster. If the problem was before the cluster it wouldnt respond like that since the speedo and rpm gauge respond to square wave pulses not constant voltage.

oh.. SR20DET, nice engine to have! I may upgrade some day... Reving at 8+K is sweet...

and God... the handling on this car is awesome, as always! No wonder Nissan Primera GT dominated the BTCC and other touring car race events back in the day.

Thanks for the suggestions guys! I will seek into that cluster! Your help is highly appreciated.

either the tacho calbe has ogne, but thats unlikely cos it wudnt rise up slowly. or the eco/electrics have a dault. my dads vauxhall omega did exactly the same thing. turned out to be a fault in the ecu/electrics type thing. easy to fix at a garage.

Depends what car :)

My honda B20VTEC did 10k :)

Hence my name: irev210 (I REV to 10)

This is the stock B20 block that can go to 10k RPM with stock everything :) found in the 96-2001 Honda CRV

Hit 10k rpm with a B20VTEC with stock internals is really stupid.

There would be no need for a 10k redline on any sr20 motor. They seem to lose power in the 7-8k range, even the roadrace built motors.

To fix your tach problem, just source a new cluster from a junkyard for like $30. Rip the tach guts out of it, and put in yours. Tada. :)

Thanks for the cluster tip... I will check into that later. You guys are so cool.

at this tuning place i end up hanging out at every now and then, this guy had a SR20DET in a nissan NX2000, and it didnt make decent power until about 6500 rpm. he would take it up to about 9000 rpm. almost 400 fwhp last time i saw it. 2 of the butterflies got bent, and it started idling at 4000 rpm. that was fun to fix

the thing was wicked quick.
