Cronic’s custom painted MX518 mouse.

Well I got bored last night so I decided to match my MX518 mouse to my custom stacker case. The logitech logo was a little worn from 6 months of use. So, I removed the logo, filled it, and refinished to match my case. The paint I used is a 4 part system by House of Kolor. I can't recommend this paint enough, it is awesome stuff, but very expensive. The

Paint consists of the following products:
1 teaspoon of Body filler
5 coats Crossfire epoxy primer
2 coats House of Kolor Meteor Maroon basecoat
3 coats House of Kolor Brandywine Kandy
3 coats Crossfire clear coat

Equipment used:
Sharpe 5963 HVLP gravity feed gun
Cummins 6hp 60 gallon air compressor

This project took a day from start to finish. I have had many requests for some info on painting so I took some pictures after each step to show the process. The body filler was sanded with 220 grit and then the whole piece was sanded with 320 grit before primer was applied. I wet sanded the primer with 400 and then 600 grit after the various coats of primer. I DID NOT wet sand the clear or buff it, and really don’t recommend it unless you get trash in the clear or have “orange peal”. You simply do not get the shine back if you cut and buff, however on large pieces I do recommend it. That about sums up this short project. I am happy with the end product. What do you think?

Thanks for the kind comments. I added a picture of the keyboard that I finished yesterday. I guess my game controller and mic will be next.

The keyboard this perfect one. It seems as if it left that house.
You have good hand for the painting ;)

The colour reminds me of the Ferrari 612.
What type of paint is it?

The epoxy primer part was clear enough, but none of the other stuff you mentioned gives any clue in the name.
What i wanted to know is if it's water based auto paint, lead based paint or acrylic paint?

Awesome paint job man. Looks very nice indeed.

I have a broken G7 here. Its not really broken.. just disconnects and reconnects when ever it feels like it. If you are interested in having fun with it let me know. You can have it for free with both batteries if you pay for shipping. Even then.. if shipping isnt too bad, I can pay for it :)

I have a case here waiting to be painted. Full custom paint job, and not an easy one either. Requires multi layers of paint and masking.

I will post some pics in the case mod sectionj when i'm done, even tho i have no idea when i'm gonna finish it.
