Im thinkin bout buying a used car that will probably need quite a bit of work done to it, and I dont want just use jacks. Ive heard that there are ways to tip a car on its side so that you have easy acess to the bottom of it. Can anyone explain how this is done or link me to somewhere that shows you how to do this?

thanks.

Unless the cars a piece of junk already I wouldn`t even consider it, cause if it`s not it soon will be after you roll it over! :slapass: :p:

He's right man!
If you roll it it can jam body panels causing none of the door / body panels to open.
The sheets metal pressure can also cause the windows to burst.

tipping a car on its side to service under it is not very safe...

you looking at a guy thats worked on the underside of his car a few times tipping it and holdinit up wiht a 4x4. all i can say is dont do it. put some 2*6's ramped on on to some cinder blocks and drive it up on that. jsut make sure all the brakesare on. if the old car dont have a parking brake, put it up on jack stands. but here is a pic of it being done

You can do this without damaging the car if its between 1960-1970, only one problem with this method...need a hell of a lot of friends to get the boat on its side, rofl

If you actually want to tip your car onto its side to service it instead of buying a jack/stands/creeper.... you probably shouldn't even own a car let alone work on one.

1. Go to auto parts store.

2. Buy ramps.

3. Have someone that knows what they are doing help you out.

4. Learn.

5. You do NOT want 1800+lbs. falling on you. I've lowered a car on my foot. can you imagine the whole car? :slapass:

just use jackstands. its a hell of a lot safer, and wont damage anything. (not including the "work" you need to do to the car)
