I didn't get to drive it, problem with insurance. Left hand drive cars are actualy not allowed on the road in Hong Kong. The only way to get it on the road is get a one day temporary plate. Problem is you need another drivers leisence to drive these temporary plate cars. However, i was in the passenger seat of the enzo. Its not as loud as i thought it would be, for some reason the sound doesn't go into the :banana::banana::banana:pit much. Maybe cause we were going so fast that sound couldn't catch up

Soulburner, it looks dirty because it is dirty! Thats before i started working on it. Took me 2 days to get every scratch out of that damn car, and protect the paint.

There are less than 5 black enzos around. Factory settings only allowed Rosso Strudalia (F1 red) or yellow, but a few... lets say important people wanted it in black and would cancel their order if they didn't allow it. This is one of the black enzos. JK (popstar) is also among the few that have a black enzo.
Yeah. Now the only thing you have to worry about is someone getting it scratched up again because they don't know how to maintain what they own...

Can you tell us the process and products you used? Like orbital polisher, swirl cutter compounds, etc.

I don't agree...I don't know what you are using, but Meguiar's stuff works great for me...

They have some high quality towels and accessories too.

That's their old stuff, tried some of their NXT synthetic wax? Lasts for months, and give a really sharp shine. You can give an even deeper shine if you then put a decent high-carnuba content wax over the top of it.

I'm gonna hijack it again :p:

It doesn't have any silicon in, I think your thinking of something else?

And swirl mark removal is 90% technique and 10% product :stick:

hixie must be a fan of sealants then. Usually, you are either a wax guy or a sealant guy...:D

Sealants last much longer than waxes.

If an orbital polisher is used with a good product (Menzerna, 3M), it won't leave behind any scratches or swirls in the paint. I think you guys are thinking of the old rotary buffers. A wax or sealant is used on top after the polishing to "seal" in your hard work. The shine and depth is coming from the work underneath and not the wax. I think people are forgetting what the purpose of that last step really is.

I was excited when I first saw an enzo but I think the car is a bit overrated and there is better looking cars in the ferrari's catalog.

Plus, i just saw the koenigsegg (i don't know how it's spelt) CCX at top gear and damn it made me want to drive one of those. The guy looked like he really got a good time.

MC12 and another Enzo, same engine, same chassis, same suspension only the body panels are different.

That maserati looks soo much better than the enzo. Isn't some of the ECU software remaped in the Maser? For some reason I think it runs a different map.

hixie
06-06-2006, 03:10 PM
I agree, i like the look of the MC12 more than the enzo, but the wide spoiler ruined the overall look.

I don't think the MC12's ECU is any different from the Enzo's. I'll ask the mechanics today at work to make sure.

hixie
06-07-2006, 03:16 AM
I asked today at work, they said the ECU setting are totally different. The MC12 is a newer engine that revs to 9K, the Enzo's ECU and some other tweaks inside the engine allowed it to rev up to 10K. The extra 1K would explain the difference in horsepower.

Thought there were, can't remember where I found that out though :D

The Masser could do with the wheels pushed out a bit to fill the arches too.

Bet you loved detailing those strakes on the bonnet :)

Soulburner

You should try detailing an LS1 Trans Am...with all the damn curves and notches and holes, this is the hardest to clean car I have ever owned. I don't think it's possible to make a car any worse in that respect.

But it's worth it ;) It's a labor of love.

Have any of you seen that clear plastic film you use to cover a car (cant remember what its called) it protects against scratches and flying debris while driving.

If i was goin to dump that much money into that car i would insist it be wraped in it. Then again if i had the much money i probably could afford to get the whole car repainted when it got scratched.

I don't know if it's Hong Kong or what, but every one i've seen goes yellow after a few months. Which looks disgusting on white or green cars.

Thats what people always says, but everyone in Hong Kong knows they turn yellow, and they do turn yellow. That's why i was wondering if it was only a problem in Hong Kong.

if a 3m clear bra turns yellow you can go to the 3m and have it replaced and they will kiss your feet for an apologize.... really i havent see any 3M clear bra to turn yellow unless is a cheapo imitation

hixie
06-08-2006, 07:19 AM
Really? Hmmm ... in that case they will be kissing 90% of car owners that have it.

Every time I've seen the clear film stuff used it's turned yellow.
And god help you if your not in a clean room while applying it, as it seals all the dust and dirt in.

It's a 550. Not a F50 .... the F50 that we have in the shop is being repaired at the moment. I think it needs a new boot lid or something.
Do you want more pics of the 550 or the F50 then?

This is nothing! I drive a 97 Honda Civic LX everyday. All original, factory silver paint, 360 degree steering wheel, fuel low warning light, FM/AM radio and more. When I'm driving all the chicks in my town would jump in front of the car just to meet me (or maybe it's because I usually ignore red lights and pedestrian crossings).
