Wii will launch at 25,000JPY.

http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=31964 citing www.videogamesblogger.

This will certainly make it competitive, for that price I'd probably get one anyway.

After I heard about the features, 3-axis motion sensing controller, DVD player, ability to play game cube games and use of GC controllers as well as the WIFI download of any Nintendo game made, I was sold. The much lower price(compared to 360/PS3) is a complete bonus. :bananal:

Wtf...No. Here was have $.07 tax per dollar, wich would make a $15.4 tax bringing the price upto $235.

Actually GST is now $0.06 per dollar, as of July 1... so a little cheaper yet ;)

He's in the states. Contrary to popular belief, there is a sales tax in the states. Differs state-to-state, but in RI its 7%.

Although 6% GST = :banana3:

6% in PA here, my dad promised me the next Nintendo console since we didn't get a Gamecube, and personally, I think it wasn't a big issue at this point since I'd be able to play any Gamecube I want, so I'm quite happy with the fact that I'm getting a Wii

A must have. And yes screw sony. 799 canadian for a game console is a joke.

Yeah but you can't just convert it.Banks always charge a fee etc,so I imagine there will be a little bum raping going on.I predict $299 in canada,if the price listed is accurate.I think this generation, nintendo steals major market share. They are actually offering something different.
Haven't considered a console since the n64/ps days but I am getting this one.

I am definatly getting the Wii.. though the new controller doesn't look appealing at all, the fact we are able to use gamecube controllers instead makes up for that. This is something that should have been done a long time ago.. have multiple styles for each console.. in terms of different button layouts, analog positions, etc.. with xbox it was either a huge hamburger or the "S" that everybody uses now.. other than size they were the same.

from a pricing performance and implementation perspective, the Wii loks liek the only winner in the set.

x360 has a few thermal issues, is bloated with windows and just can't compete witha PC, still kinda expensive.

PS3 is purely hypothetical at this point, costly and just keeps on being downgraded. Programming for it will be a :banana::banana::banana::banana: so the hardware won't even be properly implemented. Games are being cancelled left and right. Supply will most likely be limited.

Wii somewhat weak hardware given its release date, though VERY compareable to the x360 in terms of performance if I am not mistaken. inovative implementation, and priced within reason.

you know who I think wins here... Big N which f'ed up royally on the N64 and limited itself on the GCN is fixing its mistakes.

Mark up will be nasty the first 6 months.
