Hello everyone. I could really use some help from experienced overclockers regarding my setup - I simply can't get the silly thing stable. For starters, here is the basis of my system

CPU - AMD Dual Core Opteron 165
Mobo - Biostar Tforce6100-939 (mATX)
RAM - Gskill DDR500 HZ model 3-4-4-8 1T (black heatspreader)

I use ClockGen, CPU-Z, Everest (trial), and StressPrime2004 for my stability testings in Windows. I also use Memtest86+ 1.65 for the bootable memory test.

In my testings, my limits are as follows -

CPU - Stable at 2574mhz, 1.5v
HTT- Stable at 300mhz
RAM - Stable in Memtest at 232mhz ????

If I go much about 232mhz in Memtest (by raising the base clock and setting the divider to 200mhz 1:1), I start getting errors. Is this indicative of a bad ram kit?

However, SP2004 crashes if I try to run the Ram at 232, or even lower down to 228! If I use a divider to get it down to like 184, even keeping my CPU nice and high, then things work. However, I don't think DDR500 RAM should need to be run at a 133mhz divider!

I actually have over 5 pages of my woes posted on another forum, and if someone experienced would give me the okay I'd be happy to post a link to it.

Thank you for your time, and please go easy on this newbie. This is my first AMD OC :)

I don't know much about those memories, but a more detailed description would help (size, what IC's, etc.) but first thought that came to mind was - Do you have Vmem options in bios? It may be as simple as giving your RAM a slight bump in voltage ;)

You need to provide more info, like stepping on CPU and brand/model of PSU.

I think they are the 2GB UCCC kit. In which case it might be better to go to the lowest voltage possible, also please post an A64 tweaker screenshot so we can help you with some of your timings

Oops...didn't notice the ram was rater for 250mhz....maybe the board isn't supplying enough voltage?

The memory needs just 2.6v to get some good clocks on them. ;) I was doing 2.6v for 284 1:1

my sticks do not care for anything more than 2.7vdimm and actually prefer 2.6vdimm. So far the bios setting that has had the most impact on stability is tref=2336 (166MHz, 1.95us). I do not know if biostar boards have this setting, DFI does.
