3.4 on air with a simple pin mod, good stuff
Oh yeah, good question, what idle/load temps?

Hey coolaler do you think water cooling might help the overclockability of this babe?

Hey coolaler do you think water cooling might help the overclockability of this babe?
I believe temperatures are not limiting these conroes right now.

Sorry for being a noob, but how is pin modding better than just changing VCore in the BIOS...?

Well, for one, it can be good when the bios has no such options :)

thats stable enough for me... Lets see higher clocks on AIR :).
Thanks for doing all this work/testing, I really enjoy reading all the stuff you post. You do much more in-depth work then the rest of the Conroe owners :)

1.45v, aircooling, 23c? What ambients? If those temps are right that's ridiculous.

14.9 spi 1m on regular air is fantastic. The numbers seem surreal anymore.

according to Intel 975xbx , conroe isn't COOL.
when 1.55v(actual volt.), temp=78c~85c loaded.
Tower120+3*1238 papst, XS Air cooling :D, ambient=20c.
the temp shows in MSI/ASUS bios might be to low.

Perhaps we are finally starting to see the curve leveling out. It had to happen sometime, but I'm sure it still has a ways to go.

clock like a Prescott
cool like a Yonah
SPi like a CONROE
Take low temp like an INTEL PROCESSOR
Intel should give coolaler unlimited lifetime LN2 supply:)
1.45volt is no where near limit
take it higher

Hi, great result man ;)
Have you actually tried my tweak to disable 1 core? And if so, did it help you any?
Maybe you have to combine my tweak with this if it didn't work: Go to device manager and update the cpu driver under "computer" from ACPI multiprocessor to single processor, I'm sure you know how to do this ;)
Good luck with benching, I can't wait for you to pin-mod your way up to 1.6v :toast:

From what I have seen with Meroms - 1.55V "might" be way too hot for Conores as well
Countdown until XS.org sees Intel Core 2 Extreme "Conroe XE" ES: 6 days...
Ok so when did this count down actually started? Cause without a starting date it is always gonna be 6 days :) :)

Why you set vcore with pins only to 1.45v ?
First probe or something serios that do not apply to use higher voltage in that way ?

1.6v would be very high on a Aircooled setup considering how low the starting volts are.
I don't even run my 4400+ over 1.56v daily or 1.64v benching.
1.6v on Conroe might be fine for LN2 but I wouldn't do that on air IMO

^^ all depends these are loosly based on p6 core. the tually p3's could take 1.7v 24/7 from what i remember.
wow that's awesome stuff - I liked cpu pinmods long time ago, I think we all gonna like them soon again :D
great information here - thanks.

Don't forget these are 65nm. Those P3 you speak of were 130nm. That makes a difference.
