I was looking for a new PSU for my next computer and came across these powersupplies. They seem to be identical, though the OCZ is less expensive.

Though I was reading through some reviews on newegg and someone mentioned that they could not run their 7900GT's in SLI because the PSU supplied only 15A on the 12V lines (there are 4 of them) instead of the reccomended 18-20A...

I was wondering if this is just and isolated incedent or are other people having problems with these (most of the reviews I saw liked them alot)...

On a second note what type of PSU should I get with these Specs:

[ OC'd Dual Core Opteron ] or [ oc'd Dual Core Intel ]
[ DFI Ultra NF4 ] or [some Intel Mobo]
7900GT OC'd
2GB Ram
3 HDD (7200RPM)
DVD+RW Drive

Take a look at this review (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=99830) and forget about those blamings ;)
This unit can provide enough power for 1900 crossfire and highly OCed dual-core

I am running the GX with an oc'ed 4200+ and 2x7800gt's (http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,16127988). It has no problem. Also the 700watt GX has 18a on each rail. It's a great PSU.

I was really worried about the 7900GTs... because they use a different manufacturing process (90nm IIRC). Thus, I assumed that like their CPU counterparts they would need more amps.

Does anyone have a 600 or 700 that has 2x7900GT's?

Both 7900gt and 7900gtx are on a 90nm manufacturing process. And actually its the exact opposite of what you are saying. The 7800 series was on a 110nm process, and the 79XX series is a die shrink, meaning the fit they same amount of transistors in a smaller area, thus reducing costs and lowering power consumption. Plus the 7900GTX runs at 1.4v on the core from default and the 7900gt runs at 1.2 stock. so the GTX is going to require more power. The OCZ will be PLENTY of power for 7900gt's they aren't extremely power hungry. The X1900's while being on the same 90nm process have nearly double the transistors in the core thus requiring alot more power than any of the 7xxx series, they are by far the most power hungry vid. cards out right now. So if it can run X1900 crossfire, then it can pretty much run anything.

Hope that helps. I just got one of these, it looks to be a great psu for the price.

Edit: Oh, and a general rule of thumb is don't every believe people that leave reviews on newegg LOL.

Another example of big torture on the OCZ GX PSU.
