Since NVidia has great yields on G71 production 7900GT/GTX prices will fall eventually. Some stores already have both for a lot less when during the product start period.
Quad-SLI ready VGA 7950GX2 also will face price-cut. $600 for single (if it`s the right word to call that beast:D) card. That`s about 20% price drop.

not bad... once they reach $500 I bet they are going to get pretty popular

the yields must b nice seeing they only ask 600 for a dual GPu card with 1GB of GDDR3 (in total).

either that, or performance isnt up to par

performence not being up to par has nvr disturbed them from asking a premium.
With the 7950GX2 and that price and witht he coming price cuts for the 7900 cards.
the pretty cheap 7600Gt and new 7300GT Nvidia seems to have a very good card in each price class.
thats actually a really good price for a single one...but tbh from some of the benchmarks on them they dont seem to be worth it :x

3 problems:
1) The GPUs are running at 500Mhz, ram at 1.2Ghz stock.
2) To keep power usage levels down, they are probably uber undervolted, 1.1v or lower. The power circuitry is not designed to handle any more volts, hence the lack of mosfets compared to the previous gen Quad SLI setup.
3) You'll have to make a custom waterblock setup dual cards placed so closely together.
