I was quite happy with them just after install them but after some more testings, i have real diffculty to find the good/100% stable stock timings..
My board is the Expert, actually 406 bios, but i have test too with the E704-2BT...
The first problem come from voltage, just fo pass Super PI32 or SP2004 (1Hours) i need really more voltage of what the DDR are rated.. 3.55V at min.. ( and again i have the feelings more is needed).. I have think this is caused by the timings, but... I begin ask me if it's not another thing..
I have try many settings i have see on this forum and other too given by Team Group.. i begin by report this last:
CPC = Enabled
CAS Latency(CL) = 2
RAS to CAS(Trcd) = 2
Min RAS# Active time(Tras) = 5
Row Precharge Time(Trp) = 2
Row Cycle Time(Trc) = 7
Row Refresh Cycle Time(Trfc) = 14
Row to Row Delay(Trrd) = 3
Write Recovery Time(Twr) = 2
Write to Read Delay(Twtr) = 2
Read to Write Delay(Trwt) = 3
Refresh Period (Tref) = 4708
Write CAS Latency(Twcl) = 1
DRAM Bank Interleave = Enabled
Skew = AUTO
Skew Value = 0
DRAM Drive Strength = Level 8
DRAM Data Drive Strength = 3
Max Async Latency = 7ns
Read Preamble Time = 5ns
Dram time = Normal
Idle Cycle Limit =256
Dynamic Counter = Enabled
R/W Queue Bypass = 16x
Bypass Max = 7x
32 byte Granularity = Disable(4burst)
this is certainly large and not tight timings..
But theses timings give me error under Prime after 32Min..
Other possible setting i have take are in test i have see here.. with more tight timimgs... the problem it seems no one pass fully stable..
For pass Memtest86 Dos, i need more voltage, so error stop but i have try the test 5 only during some hours..
I have do some Prime and they was looking stable for 2hours.. with different settings
http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/8359/timin4gh.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
this settings too pass SUperPI32m,.. but have give me some trouble after 2h of Prime..
http://img312.imageshack.us/img312/1336/sanstitre8gw.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
SO i begin be a little bit lost with this DDR, or all thread i have see on different forum are allways reporting real good result with this DDR...
Perhaps just no luck..

just for interest sake please lower cpu multiplier to 10 or 11 and test again with all other settings identical.

I have do it... it make same..
I have download the memtest windows, like some peoples say it's more speed for test DDR.. error after 40%.... i will perhaps begin see if one DDR is bad or if it's the timings.. perhaps one ddr is a bad stick..
need say you have on the screen speed at 255x12, in real it's same at 250x10, (or 12x)..
I have try Tref 4708 - 3120, and 3684 (100, 1.95ns..) different DS / DDS, ( 7-1, 7-3 , 8-3, etc...)...
Like i know it sometimes difficult say if it's DDR or timings.. i like more try all possibility ...

Below isd what I suggest to do, especially on DS/DDS..
Skew = AUTO (is it off under windows?)
Skew Value = 0
DRAM Drive Strength = Level 3 or 1 if you're on 406 bios; 5 on before 329 bios
DRAM Data Drive Strength = 3 or 2
Max Async Latency = 7ns (auto under bios)
Read Preamble Time = 5ns (auto under bios)

Ok thanks one page book.. will try this..
DQS is in auto under bios
I use bios 406 actually.. so i will try your setting..
thanks for your help.

Ok error is happend too...
first is with DDS 1, DDDS 3.. second: DDS 1, DDDS 2..
3.5V.. in bios ( not tested with multimeter)
Error at 70% (memtest windows)

try lowering twtr and trtw to 1.

Also try:
Max Async Latency = 7ns
Read Preamble Time = 5ns
Like OPB suggested.
My BH-5 only likes MAL 7ns and RP 5ns for some reason.

I have decided to change the bios.-. for older ( E704-2BTA).. now i will see.. but no change for what i use.. the error seems happemd later or faster, but memtest respond me allways by an error..
Voltage increase decrease, i must go now.. will make more test tomorrow..
If someone have again some idea...
Thanks all for have tike time help me..
Try to enable 32 byte Granularity
Onepagebook
05-15-2006, 06:06 PM
no need to enable 32 byte Granularity
instead of doing that, I would suggest that be aware of two things:
1. manually set errata 123 as disable if you are not using dual core; sometimes errata94 will be the key as well(especially when we use TCCD)
2. set auto as ICL so MAL will not slow down one level; sometimes 256 is NOT really help, every cpu got different ICL orientation; my FX57 love 16clksor sometimes 64CLKS but my opty 154 loves 0clks and 8clks for most ram; other than those settings, I got instabilites somehow.
This is what I just pick any two sticks from the Team Group DDR 500 BH5
All air cooling under Ultra-D 1114 BIOS; DS/DDS=7/2

heat? You are cooling the dimms, right?

05-15-2006, 06:39 PM
Absolutly yes, you will need at least good air flow around the memory sockets area.;); 90mm fan 50cfm would do the job!
Hi OPB,
have you got any tips for getting 4x512 BH5 to run stable at DDR400 2-2-2-5 1T on the DFI Venus?
so far the only way i've been able to boot into windows with 1T is with 32byte granularity enabled, DS at 9 and DDS at 2 but it errors in super pi almost immediately
Onepagebook

you might wanna try 7/1 or 7/auto;
same thing,keep 32byte granularity disable
try disable bank interleave first
see if that's the one hold you back or other parameters.
if you can keep bank interleave better keep it enable
play tref a little bit.
if 3684 won't go long term enough, then try 166mhz, 15.6mus

2x papst 120mm fans for cool the dimms..
Ok i have flash with the E704-BT ( big Toe).. just now the memtest have pass for 100% need test more.. but there's an amelioration..
I have leave DDS/DDDS in auto.. and leave the voltage at 3.48V.. and mod the Tref to 166,15.6.. perhaps 133,1.95 work fine too..
max async latency and read preamble is set like on screen, but i can allways tweaks them if instablity come later..
idle cycle at 000

Thanks ALL for your help!!!! :D .. i have launch a SP2004 (24.14) there's now 30minutes.. i will let it run in back

Great effort, keep in mind, sometimes sp2004 last couople hours doesn't mean it can pass super pi 32m,;samething, 32mpass doesn't mean you can last sp2004 even 1 hour;)
ICL; DS/DDS and MAL/RP are all the key points!!

I have the same ram and the same problems back on Ultra-D i had it running 277mhz@3.7V but now on expert im strugelling to get 265 mhz out of it...:slapass:
Expert is a b**** to setup

yeah.. thanks for help again.... i continue the Sp2004 and will begin some more test later
For the moment it work in back and i like i have some work to do on net.. the Sp run fine in back.. blend test..
need say a "little"265x12 2-2-2-5 will be fine for me..
this seems really better stable now...

strangely some have good result on expert, .. i will switch for the CX3200 at the end of the month normally.. so...

I see OPB, your DDR is week17.. mine are week 10,2006.. some idea if there's a lot of difference with some revision week?

Shark.. it will be really fine if you can share with me your timings and bios are you using.. Like you have an Expert too...
Runing again....

Lol...so after 3hours of Prime i have launch the 3D06, a little prob.. if this type of error say something to someone..
this appears duing the 3th test graphic, (dragon) after the 2 CPU tests.. at the moment the image of the flying boat should appears..
http://img253.imageshack.us/img253/5466/3derr1zv.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
again some tweak to do... perhaps just the idle cycle time..
------------
Thanks Shark for you settings.. i will look at them too..

Jezus this board is just stupid there is no way to make ram go past 265mhz i mean no way i tried just about every bios and spend three weeks to make ram work with the boar and its just no go ..:slapass:
I guess once im done with DI sli benching (the only reason i switch from ultra-d)
il sell this crapy board and get Ultra-D again coz never in my life a computer component pissed me so off as this board:mad:

I was using TCCD600 before... good thing the Expert is certainly the only board to don't support them... i know what you will say by that.. I have a SLI-DR begin and begin ask me if i wil not try get better with Team group and this one
( i need verify this.. i m not sure if the SLI-DR is not dead..)

Lower your TRFC down to 13 might help;)
** The problem when you swtich from Ultra-D to Expert is you 're not really getting used into its DS/DDS settings!!

05-16-2006, 02:01 PM
Thanks, i will try this too..
And yes about the red text about DDS/DS/ expert, you are in true.. i forget sometimes i use a different board with Expert compared to my old SLI DR.. i look some settings over forum and like the most part of user have Ultra D, lol.. it give some confusion...

After some hours of tweaks.. i have see with the settings i was using above..
3D06 have pass only under 240mhz...
Like i will verify, i have pull back one sticks.. put 3.39V and clear the CMOS..
i have boot with one stick. only.. and try just stab for the 3D06..
result i have finally can pass the error i was report above.. with one stick..
ok some settings are certainly not tight now.. but ... the DS/DDS are leave in auto ( bios 329), and the most part of settings too..
http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/4179/3d07vz.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
Now i need test the second stick with same settings..
-----------------
After try the second stick.... big problem.. impossible have same timings and pass the 3D06... I begin think one stick is dead or bad...
I have try certainly all i can do then... but a bad stick can explain a lot of thing: Higher voltage as rated, specific error during specific operations.. a lot of problem for stabilise the DDR with timings normally working without problem for other peoples.. etc...
What do you think.? RMA?

Edit: I have finally switch for the SLI-DR non expert.. it seems the DDR are really more stable..

OPB : my expert wont boot using 4x512MB BH5 @200mhz 2-2-2-5 2T 3.22v
then I tried one stick on dimm1(yellow), it boot only on 180mhz(divider180).
but if I use orange(dimm2 and4) I can OC 2x512MB BH5 @243mhz 2-2-2-5 1T 3.22v
is my yellow dimm on expert defect ?
note : all my bh5 ~ 4x512MB can do 247mhz 2-2-2-5 2T 3.22v on ultra-d
borrow your thread.
before it, I cannot prime my bh5s stable above 250 @ 2-2-2-5 (with 10x multiplier) at any vdimm and DS/DDS combination. but once I change the multiplier to 9x, I manage to get the ram 260 @ 2-2-2-5stable. why?
p/s: i didnt enable the ODC.

what dividers are you running? opty's really have bad mem controllers.

nope always use 1:1 :) by the way, my opty can do up to 2.9G @ 1.52v, so 260x10 is just a piece of cake.
P/S: the setting which I used for 260x10 and 250x9 is same, even the vdimm.
