Welcome to XS. ;)
To run a CS:S Dedicated server, hop over to the Tools tab in Steam and just download the appropriate file. As far as internet connection...If its for a few friends locally you could get away with cable and 33 tick MAYBE. If your talking kids across the country or a Pub or something your going to need a serious connection and a little more knowledge on how to set up rates. Check out the Valve ans CAL forums for more info.
ty how much of a of a connection? or should i ask them that

throw us the ip when its up :P and make sure its at least 66 tic or no one will be in it
Internet T1 is the standard for businesses seeking mission critical Internet connectivity. Providing up to 1.54 MBps of dedicated bandwidth, it is able to handle the demands of users operating in an increasingly data-centric world.
umm i came apon that when looking up some stuff why is t1 so expensive if its only 1.54 and is that dl or ul ul im guessing

T1 is relatively slow, but it can handle hundreds of computers at 1.5Mbps. While your standard 5Mbps cable may be lucky to hold 4 computers at 5 MBPs
wait so how would that help a server? just the people connecting to it?
also anyone got a idea on what max ul dsl and cable offer?
guess not would that even be enough?

so your attemping to build a box and host a server from your home I assume?
tbh, not worth it unless your going to have several bozes and are going to rent them out.
getting a new connection and a box for a server is not worth the cost man.
if your dead set on it you could try for business dsl...but like I said make sure you know how to match your software to your hardware so that lag is low. You could have a fast connection and still F it up.
ya its probably not gonna happen but i was wondering how hard it would be
