View Full Version : 24/7 socket 775 isolation - how ?

I build my own ss and I have difficulties in isolating 100% the cpu/socket.

I would appreciate any tips on that.

this is how i have done mine for now.
there isnt that much room for insulation is there.
I used just grease in socket for now. will be adding some sticky back insulation later i think also though

maybe a little braging, but just the standard chilly1 mount worked great for me...

Even at those lower temps, it worked well for me?

does that mobo handle presler? See... Asus P5WD or whatever just doesn't have space you do. I would be surprised if you have had condensation with that mobo you have... nice spacing!

I carefully cut a piece of 1/8" armacell sticky tape to fit around the socket, it's pretty thin next to the caps but does built up that area to almost level with the top of the caps, and then the Chilly1 mount seals to it very well. I covered my board front and back with clear nail polish around the socket area and use vaseline to pack the socket and on the bottom of the sealing ring in the Chilly1 mount. I'm only running a single stage but have experienced no problems.
