ive been using a 20.1 1600x1200 LG LC2000 Flatron and ive been really satisfied with the brightness and color quality/accuracy of this monitor, well beyond my expectations actually. but in dark game like DOOM 3 all the shadows just seem to be completley flat, no detail or reflected light within, just completley black with no internal polygons.

i switched back to 17" 1280x1024 samsung syncmaster 172x as primary and im noticing basically the same thing now that im looking for it.

so is this just the way DOOM 3 graphics are on all monitors even CRT? or is it just the LCD lack of contrast? im considering a TV in the 37-42" size to double as a gaming monitor. im still torn between plasma and LCDTV at this point, but this may be the determining factor. thanks

Cannot give any definitive answer, but something anyway. There are big differences between the LCDs what comes to the dark details. You should not just believe the contrast numbers given by the manufacturers. Plasmas are better in this respect but cannot be recommended for gaming because of the burn-in issue.

I would take an LCD TV. But the choice of the model is crucial. There should not be any lack for reviews.

Ill just copy and paste what I said in another thread.

Do NOT use a plasma screen for gaming. Plasmas burn-in too easy.
You dont buy a nice plasma to decorate it with permanent HUD burnins :nono:

If its for gaming, its eather a CRT, projected, or LCD TV. Or you can wait until SED releases, which is going to be a long time.
