Would it be a foolish move to sell my X2 4400+, DFI RX200 and 2GB G.Skill for a temporary upgrade?

What I have in mind for the temporary upgrade is this:

Processor: Core Duo T2300 (1.6GHz)
Motherboard: Asus N4L-VM/DH - http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=3&l2=54&l3=0&model=1092&modelmenu=1
Memory: 1GB DDR2 800

I would still keep my videocard, case, water cooling, HDD and other accessories. The above system which will be the temporary one will only last until Conroe is widely available and when DFI has produced a motherboard which supports it (rumour is that they are working on one). So it won't last for long, but perhaps I keep it when Conroe is available, as a server / cruncher - we'll see how my economical situation is firstly.

The urge for upgrading is strictly because I wish to try something new. I am basically bored with my current system, and Yonah is performing very good too.

Please give me some advice before I proceed.

I would advise against that because you will see NO performance boost and in a few cases Performance loss...

Hehe, OK, I see. Thanks for the advice, nn_step.

Perhaps the most intelligent move right noe is to just hold back and await. Although it will certainly be difficult.

Apparently AM2 motherboard are available in stock at 05-13 (a couple of days) and the processors in the beginning of next month. Maybe it would be wise to hold out and see how well these things perform, and buy what's best.

well if you really are itchy to try something new.. perhaps you could grab a 3000+ and toy around with it for a while...

Nope. I've been at that road before and it wasn't very exciting (well, it was exciting since a 3200+ was my first socket 939 based system).

I'd probably be better off waiting. I just wanted more opinions. It would be relatively easy to sell of these parts right now too, but if Yonah is not performing equal or better than my X2 4400+ then I rather wait for Conroe...
