This is subjective, but I replaced an Antec A1920 (rated 79cfm/29dBA) with a Scythe S-FLEX SFF21F (rated 63.7cfm/28dBA) and I cannot hear the Scythe!! The Antec was just to loud unless undervolted to the bottom with my rheobus. I no longer have to use a channel for the Scythe, it is that quite wide open. It moves a little less air (per rating), but subjectively it feels similar, I can't hear it, and no difference in temps! Hope this helps anyone looking for a decent 120mm. I was just hoping it would not be as loud as the Antec, to my surprise it's silent!!

I've got three of those exact same fans. I replaced some Panaflos (86 CFM/35 dBA) and those 7 dBA make a big difference.

I bought a S-FLEX SFF21F but haven't tried it out because it had an annoying high pitch when cranked up above ~500rpm. It's also noticably heavier than my other 120mm fans. The $5 120mm Yate Loon seems like a way better deal. It's very quiet at 100% rpm.

Yea i'm sure Yate Loon/ Nexus fans are quieter, but do they push that much air? Summer weather is starting to make my computer run warmer and the airflow obviously helps. I think if you want absolute silence the Yate Loon and Nexus fans are best. But these SFlex fans have a great performance/ noise ratio.

r3w4, that sucks about the sound. Maybe they have changed something (hope not, just ordered another one). I did look at the Yate's and Nexus, but CPLB I did not want to give up that much CFM.

I couldn't tolerate 35dba fans did you have to wear ear plugs?

The Vantec Stealth 120mm and Silverstone FN121 are good fans too.

a high pitched sound doesnt always come from the fan itself, but from the turbulence it creates when blowing at something. Ive got two 92mm TT thunderblades, one in the front, blowing against 3 hdd''s and one at the back. The one in the front makes a high pitched sound when cranked up above 7V, but the one in the back is inaudible at all times.

Reg, I've heard Enermax makes some of the best case fans. I can't find the thread where I read it but someone did a test between all the popular fans and the Enermax line ended up being the best. Only thing is they're hard to find. The only site I could find them on was Sidewinder and they only have one 120mm fan for sale.

This particular model is supposed to not even have a bearing - it uses magnets in the blade and near the motor to suspend the blade so no lubricant or bearing of any kind is required. That's what I thought was interesting about it. The claimed benefits include longer life and quieter operation.

I finally tried the Scythe 64cfm and it really is silent and seems to move a lot of air. There was no difference though between the Yate Loon on a Scythe Ninja. My case has bad airflow so I'll see if the fans work better with a blow or suck configuration.

The 120mm enermax fans are available in the UK from here (http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/173472/art/enermax/uc-12aebs-120-mm-fan-for.html). I might get myself a pair of these, they look rather good.

Hmm, for a fan with no bearing (I have dreamed about this for ages) it does have high DB, thats no where Silent or quiet.
I know manus lie and I would need hear fan to decide.

It is very quiet at 64cfm, and this is with the loudest part of my computer being the VGA Silencer on my video card. Above 1/3 max rpm, it does have a noticable pitch but is nothing compared to most fans.

I dont get it 35db aint quiet, Hmm I have wanted/needed new 120mm fans for long time, but lots promise specs thats you later read in reviews are bullsh1t like SilenX.
Anyone seen these > http://www.aerocool.us/p-accessory/strameliner/streamliner.htm < ?, there only 20mm instead of normal 25mm probably to allow space for adapter, I could even fit without adapter as there is pletny metal to make 140mm fan holes in place of current 120mm ones.

Enermax's Enlobal (http://store.yahoo.com/maxcooler/noname34.html) has around the same specs as their UC-12FAB (http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/12clearulwit.html), which I am using. It pushes loads of air from the outside right onto my TTBT + stock fan... far more than a TT Thunderblade ("78CFM" - no way), of which I have 2 also.

Off topic, but DualCore :buddies: Rofl. Reminds me of my Opteron since both cores suck.

I was going to ask that lol, I know its not got bearing or lube to get wet but still has electrics.

lol that's just the glue which is holding the plexi and wooden panel together.

I guess I'll post some pics in the chassis galary soon.

[OT] well my core 0 sucks ass, it doesn't like anything above 45°C really. I'm patiently waiting on that OCZ Phase cooler though, I have a CCBWE 0550 UPMW so that'll work alright.
