So in selling my 6800NU I have to ditch my VF700CU, and I've decided I don't want another 3 pin cooler that requires external wiring. I want my video card controlling the fan if at all possible... I know, I know... completely anal. :slap:
I think it's within the realm of sanity, so my question is, what 2 pin cooling solutions exist that can fit on an eVGA 7600GT that will provide better cooling than stock while either remaining single slot, or providing good enough cooling to justify usage of a second slot. I'd search around, but I can't find a single cooler listed to support the 7600GT... I am gonna reserach teh artic cooling NV silencer series here in a bit. I'd love to use one of those. :D
Possibly this: http://svc.com/avc-nv1.html
Apparently the site says it's compatible with 6600 series cards, and if that is the case, then I'd assume it was compatible with the 7600 stock pcb cards... since they are similar.

you probably can just plug the 3 pin tail into the 2 pins on the pcb after taking off the little plastic thing ;)
that's what i did with my 7600gt, put a 70mm stock amd fan on it to replace the wee "squirrel cage" type fan that msi included

I also want to keep my warranty. That's why I bought eVGA in the first place... I'm not stuck with the "squirrel cage" but I don't have to forfiet my warranty. Modding the card in any noticeable way is a nono.

you can pop it back on. the little plastic thing should slide on and off really easily. if you can replace a heatsink and then put the stock one on and get away with it, i definitly think that this won't be one of those "warranty voiding" type things :toast:

It can "Slide" off? If that's the case, I may just do that! Hrm... lemme try that idea on my 6800 soon to be sold. ;)

as a side note, i would have suggested a sink if i knew anything about video card heatsinks :p:

Hehe... I am gonna thoroughly test my 7600GT with the VF700 installed with the doohicky removed. If things go well I'll order the VF900, most likely. That, or whatever Artic Silencer works out for me.

Haven't had time, to be truthful. I am currently looking into that Arctic Cooling and nobody has responded yet... I wanna know if it will fit or not.

I completely forgot to update this, yeah, the VF900's work like a dream. I've got two 7600GT's in my PC now both with VF900's and they are great together. Oblivion and Quake 4 bend over for a proper woopin'.
