I'm looking into buying a nice CRT monitor to game on, but I haven't seen many reviews/comparisons. What are your recommendations to get some great resolutions with quick refreshes. Any personal experiences would be welcome. Thanks.

I have a LCD 8ms right now because CRTs aren't good for moving. My old $120 CRT has better image quality.

Yeah, what are your res on there? I bet you can't game higher than 1600x1200, plus I don't have the cash for a huge whoppin lcd.

<3 my Samsung SyncMaster 997MB 19" CRT.

Does 1600x1200 @ 76Hz (Reccomended Res) and does much higher if needed.

NEC LCD20WGX2
Philips 200W6CS
Viewsonic VX2025WM (If on a tight budget)

I use a Dell 2001FP but looking to upgrade as it's 16ms response time isn't cutting it anymore.

Alright, quick lcd question, If I buy a 16:10 lcd monitor, can't I only game at like 2 resolutions even though there are more than that supported by 16:10, and it varies by monitor correct?

I bought the NEC Multisync 20WMGX2 20.1 inch LCD. I went out looking for a nice crt and didnt want to go over $1000.00 USD. I ended at fry and low and behold i saw the most beautiful lcd ever(although i went to look at the viewsonic 20 inch wide lcd with 4ms LCD). This model varies a bit from the one posted above. It is th USA only model and it comes with a remote controll for settings and the tv tuner. It looks exactly like the european model except i had to take the speakers off via 2 small srews on the back. It has pip, adv, digital dvi and analog hookups that can both be used at the same time, via the input selector on the pip. Oh and its alos hdcp compliant apparently. It is based off the new gen IPS panels. it is rated at 6ms but i believe it looked faster than the viewsonic. The monitor has rich color production very nice contrast and no backlight bleeding. Also the monitor has some of the best viewing angles I ever saw. I am very impressed and think I will stay with it untill the SED monitors show up. I game on the monitor using 2x 7800gtx's and the native res 1680x1050. The monitor also has a built in 4 port hub, and a tv tuner that i believe is capable of HD (not sure though). You also get component in for hd sources or consoles. It also has a standard s-video input also. To sum it up I'm in love. And this comes from a long time hardcore gaming LCD hater! I could have gotten 2 of the viewsonics for the price, but was too in love or lust for the NEC.

The FW900 retails for a lot, but it can be found rather easily for well under $500. My current monitor is the IBM P260: 1920x1440 @ 75Hz or 1600x1200 @ 85Hz for less than $150 including shipping, I'll see if I can find the site I got it from.

EDIT: I can't seem to find the site I got mine from, but if you search eBay for P260 it's easy to find one for about $150 Shipped, a steal for such an awesome monitor.
