tis true, both 920 and 930 are going to be the same price. also, celeron d are down but 8xx series are the same, probably a PR / retail friend maker before Conroe. with the hype surrounding conny's, i think Intel are hoping to get as much hype goign as poss to regain some lost ground.

On the official pricelist the 920 is exactly the same price as the 930. So it isn't strange.

Saw the price drops this morning at newegg and almost jumped on the 930. Just have to keep telling myself that conroes almost here.

be careful, i bought two 930's from newegg for mine and my brothers systems, and both were used. how do i know they were used? the IHS on both were all scratched to hell. one chip wouldnt even do 3.8ghz on 1.5v... thats messed up. i am rma'ing both chips because they were used.

I might wait until June-July and then buy a 930 for dirt cheap... Conroe will blow it away I know, but if they keep dropping in price it'll be worth getting one as a 24/7 machine

be careful, i bought two 930's from newegg for mine and my brothers systems, and both were used. how do i know they were used? the IHS on both were all scratched to hell. one chip wouldnt even do 3.8ghz on 1.5v... thats messed up. i am rma'ing both chips because they were used.

I wonder how thats possible. Intel cpu boxes are not like amds that they can be boxed up again once they are opened. The chip I got from mwave also seemed used, but I bet intel is doing something to make sure the IHS are making good contact. May be they knew about the production defect and just made sure that the ihs are making good contact by rubbing on them. Pretty far fetched assumption, but I can't see how newegg by themselves can box an opened intel cpu.

its not hard, ive done it before just to see if it could be done. there are definately ways to open it without making it look like its been opened if you dont inspect it.

Dang, I had no clue. Fortunately my 930 clocks fairly well. 4.0ghz at 1.35 now (was 1.365v before).

I doubt Newegg would do this intentionally. Selling a used part as new constitutes fraud, and I seriously doubt Newegg is that stupid. Newegg could be sued for punitive damages. Not even Fry's is that dumb.
