Think there are only 3-4 known boards to support conroe. Well 6 including the asrock ones. Only the badaxe has actually come out. So not much to compare to...

The albatron has a lot of watchers. DirectFETs and digital clock generator. Yum :D

is DFI any good on intel?

Whatever Oskar makes, i shall probably buy. DFI output on intel hasnt been the best for intel (but its not been atrocious either) but DFI go where the enthusiasts are, and i think most everyone but the most diehard AMD lovers are looking longingly at Conroe.

Therefore, DFI will make a decent motherboard to go with it. Therefore, unless its prohibitively expensive, or a ridiculously poor clocker, i shall get it.

It will be a 985 chipset board as I heard only Conroe XE will work on that.

They said Kentsfield the Quad Core processor which I think has been named to Bloomsfield will just drop right into that chipset. Like Yonah/Merom.

If i have the money at that point offcource.

Addition Comment Seems Its the other way around. Kentsfield still drops in the 985 board as far as I know. But Intel changed the name of another Kentsfield chip coz they had two Kentsfields on the roadmap and one of them the latest one which would be 45nm will be named Bloomsfield.

Just curious why more are choosing 975 chipsets. All indication's I've heard is that despite unfortunate lower-than-975 model #, the best performing chipset for the next gen Intel chips will be the 965's.

I think thats because most of them inlcuding me has not seen any decent 965 boards. I know fugger has something very interestig his working on but cannot say due to NDA reasons and its not 975. ;)

almost def. whatever ASUS' 985 board is....

DFI's support just isn't worth owning one of their boards...i've tried 2 different intel DFI boards and they were a huge dissapointment.

case in point: what botique mobo maker would write a OVP feature into a motherboard that is below the options available in the BIOS to select from?? (DFI LP 875 Pro Rev. B)

DFI 975X-T
Asus P5WD2-E Premium rev. 1.03G
MSI 975X Platinum rev. 2.0

They all should be pretty good choices ;)

If they will deliver the bad axes in the near future, I'll take that. Otherwise, I'll be looking at something that has all bells and whistles and is a good overclocker.
Probably Asus.

i'd wait for that new ati chipset. Fugger hinted at it in another thread.

I voted for the 965, not sure if it will have native 1333 FSB which is important for those guys intending to go for the EE Conroe.
But I am curious to hear why have so many people voted for the revised 975 chipset boards.
I mean if you pay all that cash for the best board you are very likely going for the extreme... Don't get it just because its the only one available NOW and can anyone guarantee that these boards will get ANOTHER revision and that being only a BIOS update??? Where are all the big players with this revision... staying out, observing... I bet you will See their 965 boards out before anything.
975 Sounds risky and unnecessary IMO, if you don't own the Conroe CPU NOW.
I bet all the new chipsets will have SOME little thing that you might regret 2 weeks after you coughed out the doe.

Is there any info on these two? I've heard that they will be released, but nothing concrete, just wondering if you guys had any more on them?

Anyway, should these two ever come to be they will be my two main choices.

I've always liked MSI over DFI myself. Chipset wise i definately will wait until i can afford both conroe and Mboard before buying anything which should allow the early adopters to iron out the few bugs and highlight the best boards of the bunch.

Waiting until some reviews on the boards come out, as opposed to reviews on Conroe itself.

Since I am on an Asus and eager to try DFI, I will wait until a DFI board comes out for it - hopefully they hit the nails on the head when it comes to OC ability, as I hear the DFI's for 939 are far superior to the DFI's for 775.

I will get the first decent board that supports conroe. I don't care if it is 975 or 965. The reason why is I have all the other parts I need to get my computer up and running except for the motherboard and processor. When I get the motherboard I will buy the cheapest celeron I can until conroe is out.

Parts so far

Black windowed lian-li pcv1000
ati xt1800xt (until r600 is available)
2x1gb mushkin xp2-5300
antec neo 550
3x160gb western digital 16mb cache raid edition for raid 0

I plan on buying whichever 985 board ASUS releases.

Problly the lower end of the 985 boards, since i don't need all the extra little things.

I'm leaning towards the ATI chipset (Fugger has gotten my attention), but in any case I'll be waiting for atleast a month or 2 after launch, by then I'll know which to choose, and many bugs will be ironed out of the way.

(Voted Wait on Conroe)

Truthfully I have no idea, but I assume there is something that'll be out by summer (as Fugger seems to be testing it under NDA... so we have no details). I look forward to seeing more details (any really) as time goes on, but alas I am doomed to wait it out :D.

Here is my answer:

Intel 975 badaxe right now, which will hold me over until aug/sept when better mobo's come out.

Will get an 805 to hold me over until the end of May when my conroe arrives.

adamant415

I can't wait for a review of the Albatron board. I hope it lives up to its overclocking potential. With the badaxe group buy cancelled, I will wait on this board. I needed more voltage to get the most out of my ram than the badaxe board provided anyway.
